Here's my ridiculously early prediction for final standings (top 8) for the CUSA tourney and tourney format win/loss prediction:

Regular Season Standings
1. USM (21-9, tiebreaker over Rice)
2. Rice (21-9)
3. FAU (20-10)
4. Marshall (19-11 or 18-12)
5. La Tech (16-14)
6. ODU (10-11, tiebreaker over UAB)
7. UAB (10-11, tiebreaker over WKU)
8. WKU (10-11)

Tourney:

Round 1
#1 USM vs. #8 WKU = USM wins
#4 Marsh vs. #5 La Tech = La Tech wins

Also... to the OP... we pretty much all agreed over on the Rice board that it would take 22 wins to get a share of the regular season title. I think anyone on 21 wins will be looking at runner up status.

Most years, taking two/three down the stretch is good enough. But the top of the league is stronger than usual this year.

USM SP Cord Cockrell left the game after 2 batters with an undisclosed injury. It appears it was something before the game as USM had another pitcher warming up when the game started.

USM up 5-0 after 3 complete. USM has a solo HR and a 3-run HR on the night to give us 54 HRs on the season. FWIW, last year we hit 42 on the season. USM was 9th in the nation coming into tonight.

WKU gets its first hit of the game to lead of the 4th inning.
