Hoover's Dylan Smith Leaving UNC-Asheville, Open to Playing at UAB, UA, or AU
http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2016/...iver_index

He said he's heared from Clemson, Oregon, Virginia Tech, Arizona, Murray State and Central Florida, he said, and he's hopeful that Alabama, Auburn or UAB might be interested.

"That's always been a goal of mine for my grandmother to see me play," Smith said. "If Auburn, UAB, or Alabama were to reach out I would strongly consider them all."

Was their leading scorer, but don't think we have any availability.

A real coach would tell our best player to use his hard-earned GI Bill benefits to pay his own way, and use his scholarship.

Fire Mike Davis.

Mike Davis was really a piece of work. Between what he did to Reggie Huffman, trying to get Walter Sharpe a pass for his behavior, claiming he was a narcoleptic, trying to give Oliver Robinson's retired number to Robert Vaden, the crap he tried to pull with Demarcus Cousins, and not requiring the players to study on road trips, how did he last six years???? That doesn't even include the suspected tampering which led to the Justin Knox and Todd O'Brien incidents as well as the tampering he did with UAB's players after he went to Texas Southern.

Oh, he won some games, but not big ones in tournaments.

He is easily the worse coach UAB ever had in any sport if you look at the total package on and off the court/field.

But but but, wasn't he great in the NIT? I mean, he was a head coach at Indiana for gosh sakes. And what father really has influence over his son's actions, anyway?

I'm sure there is a space on the indoor rowing team that Johnson or Pearl can find for the kid.

The kid shouldve been a blazer day one. Dont think we could get him here without him paying his own way.

Right, on second thought could Norton go to UAB half off since his dad is an employee?

Being a women's basketball coach at UAB means they probably still need the full scholarship.

You don't want to fight that scholarship battle with the NCAA over getting a 14th player on your roster.

We recruited him, never offered. He played alongside TJ Lang at McGill Toolen.
Dirk signed w UAB in Nov '14. Lavender announced transfer to UAB in early May '15.
That took up both spots in the '15 class. Smith then committed to UNC Asheville. Calhoun announced he was leaving in July '15. Then we picked up Smallwood.

@JasonScheer
Arizona is one of the numerous schools to reach out to UNC-Asheville transfer Dylan Smith.
