Would the Irish stay with: Syracuse, Pitt, Boston College, Louisville, Miami, Wake (and likely some call-ups such as UConn and Cincinnati)? Could this group still maintain a relationship with the Orange Bowl if Notre Dame was eligible each year?
That sounds like the Big East that ND was happy in.
But it lacks the C7 group for Olympic sports. But, I agree. If ND and these ACC leftovers could maintain a tie-in to the Orange Bowl - ND would make it work. But, probably only 3 football games each season.
4 ... the first 4 games in the scheduling agreement ... which allows the ACC to set the match-ups and Notre Dame to set the dates ... is not a concession by Notre Dame, it's a benefit for Notre Dame. Otherwise Independence gets really hard when you run short of home games in the second half of the season. And the Stanford/USC series doesn't actually help with November home games, since they are on the basis of Notre Dame playing the away game of the two on the last week before CCG week.

RE: Just a thought on the ND tweet...
Notre Dame should play Army yearly. That is the only opponent that should be forced to schedule them.
Rockne, Leahy, Blaik, Davis, Blanchard, Lujack, the Four Horsemen, Cagle, Light Horse Wilson, etc. Makes it happen. Army was Notre Dame's biggest rivalry. It was the game for CFB in NYC. Bring it back.
