CUSA expected to get $425,000 per team w/ new TV deal

Around a 700,000 dollar pay cut. Sun Belt might make more per team.

I see this as a bad development for CUSA but also for us. When the SBC re-negotiates our contact I was hoping for something close to the MAC but with CUSA getting less then the MAC I am not too sure we can even catch up to them.

No, ours is still less, but when our deal is renegotiated we might be right on your heels.

That's why it's more important than ever that we start climbing the conference ladder. When our deal is renegotiated, we need to have a solid conference with high attendances across the board.

Since the Sunbelt currently divides their CFP distribution 12 ways (soon to be 10) while CUSA divides their CFP pie by 14---the Sunbelt schools make up about $200K in per school income right there. My guess is there will be virtually no difference between Sunbelt and CUSA per school income once the new CUSA deals are signed. I wouldnt be surprised if any increase in the Sunbelt media deal actually allows the Sunbelt to move slightly ahead due to having just 10 members.

I expect the Sun Belt's new deal in a couple of years to be similar to what CUSA ends up getting. We might get a little more ala the MAC if we continue to show our willingness to play on Tuesday and Wednesday Nights.

So UTA and UALR won't get any media money?

No, just that the football members get more per school because we don't have 2 (or is it 4) extra teams to split the CFP money with. Somewhere the number shifted from 12 to 10 teams (so is the max CFP automatically gets now only 10M? and not 12M?) Anyway, basically the CUSA schools have to do more sharing so while the current TV deal is still higher, SBC makes up for that by not splitting the CFP as much. So basically when you add up Bowl revenue, CFP, and TV the two conferences are basically equal. The differences now are between the schools themselves (ticket sales, donations, etc...) and not the conference.

If they got cut for losing Memphis, ECU, Houston, etc...what exactly do you think you're going to get for adding GaSO and App State?

We didn't lose any big teams, it's not going to get worse.

Based on the first two years, I'd say more games people are willing to put on tv...

Considering they are currently 2 of the top 3 in the league in terms of television ratings?

RE: CUSA expected to get $425,000 per team w/ new TV deal
There's no guarantee that we'll negotiate a deal for more money, much less the same money . . .

We haven't exactly been "World Beaters" on the field . .

. . IF the trend is for television to negotiate "down" (with the G-5) as we've just seen with CUSA, then I wouldn't be terribly shocked if we ended up getting less . . .

Question is How much less?

It can't be any less than we are getting now...and right now the difference betweent he two leagues financially is so tiny that the difference in TV revenue is made up by us simply having 4 fewer teams to split revenue with.

I really don't think some of understand how little we get now. We are only getting about 125K per school and espn controls all the rights, I think.

If we got 5million a year it would be huge for us and per school we would get more money.
