If that was the case, he would have stayed at Texas Tech. Absolutely no pressure there. They offered him more money than we did, too.

Don't use logic with that poster. No point responding to nonsense.

Actually they didn't-it was $.5M year less than Memphis contract and, what everyone seems to be forgetting, it was in LUBBOCK.

so just south of $3 million per year in Lubbock with no pressure. Yeah, you're argument makes a lot of sense.

When has his argument made any sense

Honestly, have any of you ever stayed at all in Lubbock. Probably not the greatest place for Tubby and his family. Not getting into schoolyard talk.

K Lawson's coaching ability or recruiting ability (in this case) aside from his sons or to say Cal isn't a good floor coach, then we "hate" them. No, just stating the obvious, using results as the determinator.

But one thing for sure, if KL's sons don't attend Memphis, KL won't have a job at Memphis. And KL has made that the criteria through his own actions.

Regarding Tubby, most of us will wait for the results to form an opinion of Tubby as our coach, just like it forms our opinion of whether KL can recruit Memphis talent aside from his kids. We aren't sunshine pumpers but we don't constantly bash the Memphis admin or its coaches apart from & prior to having results to base an objective opinion - unlike some who seem to want to bash the program for anything & everything because they haven't been stroked by the admin or because Memphis didn't hire our favorite coaching candidate.

As for you ignorant claims of bashing the program for not being stroked, I will tell the true story:

Despite being a top 10% donor, I asked for only TWO favors in my 30 some odd years of dealing with Tiger athletic dept/TSF. Both very minor; one that was rejected because I was told that someone coming into TSF for their very FIRST year with a higher donation than mine would get priority over me despite my many years of loyalty: and buying (and paying required donations) anywhere between 4-17 combined FB & BB seasons tickets per year for over approx. 35 years. This rejection was over a parking spot a good ways from our Tiger Lane spot (not in my name).

I was rejected by my assigned rep from TSF. In disbelief, I contacted Bowen who said yes, the new system was set up that way to get new donors at higher levels to generate more TSF revenue no matter how many TSF points, years of going to every home game and nearly every conference tournament, buying many season tickets, etc. This was so the athletic dept could generate "new revenue". Needless to say, I was not happy. Who among you would have been? To discard a great low maintenance customer over such a trivial matter. One reason I think our athletic dept is mismanaged and everyone knows the Ticket office is a joke.

And, in a related matter with TSF, I agreed to settle for lesser seats FOR TWO OF THREE BB reseatings IN A ROW when they make "mistakes" at said reseatings. Bill Lansden did get my Forum parking pass back (same situation there-higher new donors get priority over long time donors). I actually went down and selected "open" seats and was called and said there was a mistake and those seats were sold! TWICE. They even wrote out the seats I selected on the form they give you at reseating.

I know of other older donors who may have dropped to $2,500 per year in donation level and had the same kind of problems. They just quit buying and going.

RC had many faults but when he ran (? had very good assistants which have quit under Bowen) department they had a point and loyalty system that was fair and worked. Do you guys realize how much TSF donations have dropped since Bowen took over? I'm guessing another big dip this year.

Confirms some who seem to want to bash the program for anything & everything because they haven't been stroked by the admin

This post shows your ignorance. If you were treated as stated above by your alma mater after all those years of support, good times and bad, I suspect you and most others would have stopped any support for the University. Typical off the cuff post without absorbing facts.

This is actually inaccurate. He would have been at least the 3rd highest paid coach in the Big 12 - meaning they offered at least 2.8 million a year. Tubby will make 2.8 million this year and never 3.3 million. The thought on GP's show leading into the hire was that Texas Tech came back with an offer that was the same if not more money.

His primary defense to his nonsensical argument is Lubbock. He after all knows all the inner workings of the Smith family. SMH

You just confirmed you are mad at the administration because you are not being stroked the way you expected to be. Some give money so they can be stroked. Some give money because they recognize they are in a position to do so and want to help the cause.

So you take Tubby's MINIMUM first year salary as A comparison to TTUs offer to support your position? Typical. Any higher offers were never documented or announced by ANYONE.

Trying to find out-almost impossible if Tubby and staff are doing any behind the scenes recruiting.
