General Discussion: The Premier Schedule
While I like the fact it makes it a little easier to get to the big dance I too hate the waste of time games against the little sisters of the poor.
Still, one can dream right?
Who would you replace those teams with? The rules are only decent P5 teams.
Replacing Georgia State with Wake Forest doesn't count.
Personally, I'd like to play USC, Ohio State, and the Arizonas, even if they aren't total powers.

I'd say the perfect 4 non conference games for Auburn would be:
1. Georgia Tech
2. Clemson
3. Florida State
4. Texas

Isn't GA. Tech a renewed rivalry?
Personally, I'd be happy if the Texas schools fell off the face of the Earth.
Maybe it has something to do with Alabama and Texas essentially being the finest states in the country for college football; Alabama being better of course.
I'd also like to play more Big10 schools. I think there is a real fortune to be made with an SEC v Big10 yearly round. But, like prize fighters each has too much to lose.
I'd love to see Alabama play Ohio State/Michigan/Nebraska/Wisconsin/Penn State every few years and have a sort of reciprocal setup where a school like Indiana plays Kentucky/Mizzou/MSU/Vandy. A real top-to-bottom measurement. I think that would be must watch football.

Until 1978 Georgia Tech was Auburn's longest annual rivalry 1892 to 1978. It was longer than Georgia which started in 1894 (and was the origin of War Eagle which actually belonged to a Georgia grad), and certainly longer than our rivalry with Alabama (which is our preferred). We've played Clemson over 60 times, have had some terrific series with F.S.U., and seem to have the Horns number in meetings within the last 40 years. We don't really have any Big 10 rivals and the only Big 10 school we partner regularly with on research, Purdue, wouldn't make for much of a rivalry. We've played PAC schools more than Big 10 schools during the regular season.

1. Texas
2. Oklahoma
3. Tennessee (in case we can't play them in conference)
4. Old Southwest Conference foe.

Gamechickens
Auburn
Georgia
Notre Dame
Nice thing is that we get to play all of these fairly regularly now that Notre Dame is playing 5/year in the ACC. I thought about B1G teams, but they're just too far away to be interesting. For extra credit, my perfect conference schedule would include annual games with:
FSU
NCSU
GT
VT
UNC

Ga. Tech is in our fight song and I have no interest in playing them.
I am part of a generation that has grown up without them.
