Johnny Johns, CEO of Protective Life, said it would be the logical next step to find UAB a stadium other than Legion Field.

He said he sees the business community’s role in supporting UAB football breaking down into three stages. The first was the reinstatement of the program, the second being the practice facility, and the third being a new stadium.

“Having a Division I football program will contribute to UAB’s success and Birmingham’s success,” Johns said. "I certainly understand the logic of needing a new stadium for the team, and we’re excited about the momentum and the vision being discussed."

2/3 would be roughly 10M..not bad

Wrap your heads around this. In roughly 18 months we've raised enough money to not only fund the program until it can generate revenue we've raised enough money to build all new football operations building and practice facility. Local government has gone from being an innocent bystander to going through the process of integrating a new stadium for us into downtown development. Players WANT to be part of this program, it's not a fall back for them.
