Hate it too - was hoping Pax could land in Big D ...
Denver is a good organization but I'm afraid Lynch may have to play before he's really ready. Provided Romo stayed upright, Pax would've gotten a coule of seasons to carry the clipboard and learn ...

I'm betting Elway will make sure he's brought along at the right pace and that Paxton will have a long and glorious career at Denver. I'm a Dallas fan but I haven't seen much from them in recent years to recommend them over the defending champs and the number 1 defense in the league. Denver and Lynch are a perfect fit.

Agree. Maybe Jones can make a trade. Pax, working under Elway, will have an even bigger upside.

Pax should have been drafted over Elliot.

That would have been amazingly stupid.

He was picked #26. You don't take the #26 pick at #4.

You take both, not one or the other. I think they should have made the trade with the NYJ at #20 instead of waiting until #26.

It all works out and Denver is a great situation. The fact that Paxton was a possibility from 7 to 31 was the wildcard. As a Jet fan, Paxton couldn't be going to a better spot. I love the Jets but I don't wish that kind of scrutiny on any young quarterback.
On another note, Sanchez won't be healthy past week 5 in Denver, IMO.

I totally agree. I wanted him in Dallas or Denver, and Denver is such a great spot for him.

But I really wanted him sitting behind Tony Romo the next 2-3 years.

Its cool though for cowboys fans. Its not like Jerry is against trading up for a talented QB the next few drafts. The fact that they were targeting Paxton so hard tells you they are going to get a QB in the near future.

They may well take a project guy today or tomorrow in the later rounds.

Wanted him in Dallas , but Denver is the better situation. He probably would have been playing by mid season in Dallas, what with the surgically repaired glass clavicle and all.

I know thats a fun and easy thing to say for some, but the chances Romo misses a lot of games this year is incredibly low.

He has started all 16 most of his career, and hadn't missed but 2 starts that last 4-5 years before that collarbone break last year.

The clavicle isn't an issue moving forward either. He was totally healed months ago and the doctors now claim another break is highly unlikely thanks to the Mumford procedure he had.

Another factor in Romo's health is the fact that they drafted Ezekiel Elliott.

This is a clear sign that the cowboys will run the ball more than anyone in the NFL next year. Romo will probably have the lowest passing attempts of any starter in the NFL.

Elliott protects Romo. And he is the best blocking and blitz pick up RB to come out in this generation.

Elliott also protects that defense.

That facts don't really back up the popular conception there.

Romo hasn't missed many games in his carer outside the 2 years he broke the collarbone. He's started 112 of 117 games outside of those 2 seasons.

And the collarbone should not break again now.

Injuries are funny though. It seems like once any player starts down the injury path it is hard to get off of it. Romo is getting older and physically has taken a beating throughout his career. I believe his body is simply going to continue to break down on him, I would genuinely be surprised if he ever plays another full year...

Congrats to Paxton, Denver is a great place for him to land!

Of course he is getting older.

Thats why they have drafted 4 1st round talents on the offensive line, drafted a RB like Ezekiel Elliot and just tried to draft Paxton Lynch.

They are doing exactly what they should be doing right now ; Protecting Romo for a SB run and shopping for his heir apparent.

Never starting a full season again? meh.

The chances of that are really low. He started 16 games in 2011, 16 games in 2012, 15 games in 2013 and 15 games in 2014.

New Dallas Cowboys World Headquarters is a mile from my house in Frisco. They are building a new 12,000 seat indoor arena just for practices. Rats!! Maybe they'll draft Alan Cross.

I hope you're a better predictor of Romo's health than you were of where Elliott would be drafted. lol

I want the guy to stay healthy. He's one of the ten or so elite quarterbacks in the league. I just don't have as much confidence in his continued health at his age as you do. I hope I'm wrong.

The Boys wanted Bosa but Tunsil hitting the pipe caused the Chargers to pass. I don't like taking a running back that early

I think you're exactly right, and I don't like one that early either, but I believe he's the guy they wanted after Bosa was gone and they couldn't get any agreeable terms to trade down.

It's amazing how unpredictable the draft can be. That Tunsil stuff affected about a dozen picks.

And the guy plays behind what might be the best OLine in the NFL.

Agreed. RB's have become more of a commodity. If you don't have the line blocking, it doesn't matter who the RB is. Dallas has a great OLine, so I think the cowboys could have made a better choice.
