Good to see this, hadn't gotten this far. I like what I've seen from WF, though I'm no movie buff. So I'd hate to see someone who has done some good stuff stoop to this low a level for a cheap laugh.

The plot of the movie is not only that Regan started showing symptoms in his second term but that he was so far gone that an intern had to convince him he was just an actor playing the president.

IOW's is something for SJW's and regressive leftists can use to simultaneously rewrite history and satisfy certain physical needs.

Hard to react based on just a logline that may wind up changing.

But if the plot holds and the movie is produced, it'll be interesting to see if the hyper-PC Left is consistent in their protests. A comedy making fun of someone with a mental or physical disability would be low hanging fruit for this crowd. But with the target being a Republican hero, we'll see if the tune is changed.

The magic word here is Republican…and they're fair game regardless of how stupid this movie's subject is.

My mother is mid-stage at 81. She lives in near paralyzing fear almost every evening that her parents won't be "coming home" to her this evening, over and over and over. Her parents, of course, would be 110 YO's.

There's very little funny about any of this, it's simply bottom of the barrel, going for the low hanging fruit. Why not pick a Cancer patient to mock? Pure classlessness.

Im not much on this type of humor either. Im glad WF backed out on this. My Father is thankfully still fairly "with it". He has his good and bad days. Just glad he is still with us and his dementia is mostly short term memory. He will tell you the same damn story 100 times if you don't stop him and make him move on to something else.

I have somebody close in "the business" and he says that the script has less to do with Reagan himself, it just uses him and his condition as a backdrop. It's more about how the man in the office doesn't really matter because everyone else can run stuff if they have to.

It's irreverent because it's about a man who some people see as a strong pillar and his very real condition, while also subverting the office of the POTUS. With all that said we've had dark comedies do way worse.

You're right about a lot of those dark comedies being way worse. Although what probably rubs people wrong here is that it's evidently based on a real POTUS as opposed to an obvious fictional character.

And they don't really need Alzheimer's, if they wanted to avoid that route. They can take some poetic license and have the Prez do some silly tumble, bonk his noggin and get amnesia.
