No it wasn't his baby.
G5 schools have used it extensively for years. Arkansas State traditionally participates in a camp at Ole Miss.
It was Harbaugh drawing attention to it and taunting the SEC and ACC that caused the ban.

RE: Satellite camps are back!
People forget what life was like when you could camp only at home or within your state or within 50 miles.
There were people rolling around who would rent a field, send notices out to every high school in the area that they were holding a camp or a combine. Maybe the promoter had insurance, maybe they didn't. They would run the kids through some drills and time them, usually hand timed. The premise was these promoters would then get the data to college coaches. Sometimes they did and sometimes the sheets were tossed in the trash on the way to the next town to collect a bunch of registration fees.
Most coaches have few qualms about doing joint camps, even fewer have qualms if the other schools are ones they don't worry about recruiting against. Ole Miss ain't worried about losing kids to AState and AState knows if OM offers they aren't getting the kid, that's why the two have camped together for at least 6 or 7 years. Arkansas State invites all the FCS and Division II in Arkansas to jointly camp at AState and I know some DII offers have come out of the AState camps.
The schools aren't sweating making a profit and they know the data gathered is reliable. The term satellite camp is a misnomer, they are actually joint camps.
