NFL Draft
Tonight is the night. The fastest dropping player is Jaylon Smith from ND. If he is available in the 3rd round should Bears take a flyer. He might sit out a year but is a top 10 talent if healthy. Is Boomer the type of inside linebacker that bears could use? Could he be a FA signing after draft? Can't make predictions on bears since not sure who will be there at 11. I could see them trading down a few picks to pick up another draft choice.

RE: NFL Draft
Ha, I thought I was going to have to yell at somebody for asking if an NIU player was going in the first round.

This is a crazy draft. So many things could happen, more trades could be in the works. The run on QB's might mean the best RB or a few amazing defensive players could be there, which means the bears could end up with a better player than we think or maybe another team will trade for the pick. Who knows?

RE: NFL Draft
The Bears could trade down and still get a very good defensive end. There are quite a few in this draft. Some say 5 QBs might go in first round. That means better players fall.

NFL Draft
Myles Jack might fall out of the top 10, if he's there the Bears better run to the podium. That guy is a freak.

Same w Elliott, if he somehow is there too don't be shocked if the Bears grab him. When asked what team he thought liked him the most, he said "The Bears are in love with me"

Problem with Jack is he has to sit out a full year due to injury. The Bears have been thru this too many times, notably just last year with White. They need a guy to step right in.

Jaylon Smith from ND has to sit out all of next year but not Jack. He will be ready for the season

Jack has acknowledged that he may need microfracture surgery which would certainly shorten his career to some degree. Pace can't risk drafting two "injury busts" in the first 11 picks...not ruling out that White turns into a stud but he's off to a bad start. I doubt they are interested in Jack. Some teams have taken him completely off their board and the speculation is that he'll fall into the teens at this point. The Bears have bigger needs on the lines than they do at LB now anyway.

If Buckner falls that would be the ideal, but I doubt it happens.

Agreed. This isn't much of a prediction but you're probably looking at Elliot, Tunsil (assuming Stanley goes before him), or Lawson/Jones

I really wouldn't be upset if the bears use the 11th pick on an OL. I think for the bears to have a chance this year at making the playoffs it starts with the OL. Need depth there.

The only positions I would be upset with are QB and WR. I also don't want them to take Eazy E, but won't be surprised if they do.

If one of the top 5 QBs is there in round 2, I could see them taking one.

I was only talking round one, but even in round two I think they should focus on other positions. College QBs just aren't NFL ready anymore and, in my opinion, the QB they could get in the second is the same as a QB they could get in the fourth or fifth round.

If Paxton Lynch or Connor Cook are there, they will consider. Besides Cutler, we got zero.

Elliott would be a terrible pick.

I fully expect that's who the Bears will take.

RE: NFL Draft
Zeke is there at 11, I smell trade. Hope actually. Find someone about 3-4 picks back if they can still land D player. Would love to see the Hunter Henry somehow land up on this team. Tyler Eifert like but he catches everything thrown his way. I can't see him getting past GB, although they got burned recently by a ARK TE. If they could get him, a guy like Dodd or A Shaun Robinson you have 2 impact guys day one. They need to make it work.

Otherwise I have no idea who it is at 11. Take your pick of 5-6 def guys. Even OL. I could see them trading up in round 2 throwing in their 1st 4th round pick or swapping 3 for 5 or something for Henry.

I think if Hackenburg somehow drops to rd 4, they will take him. Otherwise it becomes Sudfeld I think later. Can't teach size.

Obviously his expert analysis. I'm sure he's spent countless hours reviewing every position and every prospect, analyzing the Bears current roster, looking at the positional depth and certain prospects in next year's draft, etc.

Choosing a RB with your first pick just isn't smart anymore. The RB position isn't as important as it once was. When was the last time a team won a Super Bowl on the back of a stud RB? Defense and QBs win Super Bowls these days, so picking a RB at 11 can be considered a terrible pick.
