RE: Remaining baseball CUSA series
It would take a complete major collapse for USM, Rice and FAU to not make the CUSA tournament. On the flip side MT and UTSA will need to make a streak similar to USM's to start the season where we went 11-1 or even similar to Rice's 12-3 start.

ODU has been a disappointment. They started so well, have some great midweek wins, and had their RPI really high, but after the FAU and Rice series, it seems like they've just not had it against the "weaker" teams in the league.

UAB / ODU will be interesting this week. As you said, ODU seems to be trending down and UAB's young bullpen is starting to hit their stride.

With both UAB/ODU being in the 7/8 seed currently this series could decide a tiebreaker should both teams end up tied for 8th.

Charlotte still has a series with both UAB and ODU as well and are just 1 game back of ODU and 2 back of UAB. So, if the "right" Charlotte team (the one that won 2 of 3 AT FAU vs. the "wrong" one who lost 2 of 3 at home to Marshall and was swept by USM) shows up those 2 weekends they can overtake either of those 2.

RE: Remaining baseball CUSA series
With FAU still having to play USM and Rice, there's nothing that says they are out of the regular season race (not that anyone is saying they are already out of it).

La Tech to a degree is in the same boat as they have both Rice and USM as well; so if FAU splits its series with USM and Rice while La Tech gets on a hot streak it's a possibility La Tech could finish 1st or 2nd. It should be an exciting final month to the season.

Looks as if Tech has the toughest remaining schedule.

I'd probably say WKU has the toughest stretch. They have to play 3 of the 4 top teams in conference with FAU and USM both on the road.

Marshall has, by far, the easiest remaining schedule amongst the Top 5 team; LaTech arguably the toughest. Rice has the hardest amongst the top 3, particularly since they play two of the remaining three series on the road. Not sweeping Charlotte at home this weekend-- and losing 0-1 in the loss-- might cost them dearly. Also, after losing our primary midweek starter the 3rd week of the season, our Sunday starter (Salinas) missed this week's start and no indication when he might return.

Ouch on Salinas.

Obviously, you have plenty of capable starters but with the way you guys hit the ball, the margin for error is razor thin and a starter giving up 2 runs vs. 3 runs is a big deal.

My sources tell me that the Salinas issue isn't really an injury where there is anything wrong... More of just a sore arm/fatigue... He's expected to start next Sunday @FIU.

If that's the case I'm glad we sat him vs Charlotte. We definitely need him down the stretch.
