I don't think conservatives are the ones obsessing over the three Gs. I think true conservatives are about less government intrusion into people's personal liberties or private lives than they are about bigger government and less personal freedom. At least, that's what I want to think.

I really believe it's the GOP's marriage with the evangelical crowd and poor badly educated whites who are looking for a scapegoat that's led to it becoming a party filled with haters and the indignant.

so explain my links above...sure ain't democrats trying to pass those laws...each one proves the three Gs theory.

we have to put off Insure TN (to offer 150k low income Tennesseans insurance) to work on the three Gs around these parts...screw health...we need Jesus, guns, and to keep the queers in their place! 03-lmfao

Responding does not make one the instigator.

Do you a least understand why this issue is difficult in a way that same-sex marriage really wasn't? If you can just use whatever restroom matches your "gender identity", then why even have segregated restrooms in the first place?

Socratic.

I was called a lying troll when every single statement I said happened to me. I don't know how I fell in line with a ridiculous statement? The lying troll is the definition of a ridiculous statement.

THIS ISSUE IS A DEAD LOSER FOR THE RIGHT! A DEAD LOSER! When you have Micheal Jordan apologizing for the law. Dead Loser. When you have corporations bailing out of North Carolina. Dead Loser. When will the right learn?

Target should just lock all their bathrooms, at all their stores, and simply post a sign that says: 'since everyone seems incapable of acting like adults, the restrooms are closed until further notice - MGMT'

I went for a run in the park on Tuesday. A tranny in front of the public bathrooms tried to stop me to sign a petition. Why is this an issue?

To his credit, Trump has figured out how to do something the democrats have been doing for 15 years: using social media trolls and fake news to shape opinion. People have no principles, they simply stand in the direction that they don't get hit while pissing in the wind. This applies to social issues as well. Frankly, we need to repeal every law and court ruling on the books and start over with nothing but the constitution. The constitution has run its course with the current legal structure. It has no meaning anymore.

please, democrats know all about Trump as he's a pro choice, New York liberal...and y'all are about to nominate him, lol

I don't support him. I am just giving him credit for manipulating the masses on social media. I give Obama credit for doing the same.

Do you understand the gender people have identified with has been going on your whole life? Do we really want the potty police checking birth certificates? The law is so stupid it is almost comical. I think it tried to juice the base and it's backfired spectacularly on them. You guys can't win in this arena. You really can't and what I can't understand from my viewpoint is why you promote it. Why on Earth would you make this a pedestal to stand on? It boggles my mind. It really does and this is not a troll thread. I don't understand and I am trying to educate. You do understand some people are born diferent. Some people get mixed messages of testosterone and estrogen. Sexual assignment isn't always black and white. Please tell me you guys understand this. I will go into the science of it if anyone is still confused. You look so bigoted in my eyes with these laws. You show NO compassion for the differences of others and it makes you look intolerant of others struggles.

I'll agree here. This mostly popped up on the national radar the way it has because Charlotte's mayor (a woman who might be confused for a man by some) decided she wanted to make a name for herself with a law that wasn't really necessary. Transgendered people have used the bathroom they wanted to forever and nobody knew the difference anyway. It was a non-issue. The GOP then overreacted big time and started assuming transgendered people were all male rapists that want to diddle little girls in the bathroom, which is absurd.

It has basically just pitted the fringe vs the fringe and created false narratives about transgendered people. Nobody is winning here and transgendered people have come out far worse. Now instead of just being a mostly invisible segment of society that nobody thinks about, everyone either pities them or thinks they're evil child molesters.

RE: How in the H does the GOP get trapped into these things. (honestly)
I have been around Women coming into the Men's room many times over the years. Usually at music, sporting events where the huge waiting lines for Them gets unbearable. I've never had an issue with it They smile and say We just want a stall and most go on with Their business. You very seldom hear about Men going into a ladies room though maybe because some will resort to going in a sink or other ways to relieve themselves if there are long lines for Us. But a man dressing up as a female to be allowed to go into the ladies room is somehow not correct. I guess if They identified Themselves first when entering that room that might not be a problem. But these ladies really have no way of telling a legit transgender from a legit pervert before hand without knowing that person. There just needs to be a better way with say a third restroom just for transgendered people of both or "Quad "sexes.

While in general, I agree and the NC law went too far, but if gender is a self-identification anyone can use any bathroom or locker room. There has to be parameters. It should not be legal for me to hang out in the womens locker room just because I say I identify as a woman today.

How about the female/male symbol and call it Family. I see those all the time at places Like Cedar Point or a Carowinds. This makes people seem so intolerant.

It is, but we didn't get to vote on it. I would have voted for it, but I doubt it would have passed.

What she did was political pandering and nothing more. She was a terrible candidate and I hate that she won the election, but all you have to do in Charlotte is lock up the black vote and you win most of the time. Also saw a lot of "we need a woman running this city" in the media leading up to the election. 03-puke

It's not a winner the same way killing babies isn't a winner for the left. It wont get them votes from the other side that wasn't going to vote for them anyway. If the goal is to get liberals to vote conservative, sure, not a winner.

You nailed it.

The GOP has to pander to that 40 percent of their base that is Old, traditional, and ignorant.

Once that segment of society dies off, the GOP can reform and go back to issues people actually care about like the size of government, cutting taxes, and defense.

^ this is a common misunderstanding...we are not a straight democracy...we elect people to represent us...so when local leaders pass laws, that IS the will of the people...because the people elected them.
