NC Law upheld in federal court.
Finally a judge with some common sense.
Quote:The plaintiffs "failed to show that such disparities will have materially adverse effects on the ability of minority voters to cast a ballot and effectively exercise the electoral franchise" as a result of the 2013 state law, Schroeder wrote. That argument was made more difficult after black voter turnout increased in 2014, he wrote.

it's a lower courts ruling...see, if you want cases heard by a higher court, a disagreement in rulings is a great way to do that.

get a judge who disagrees (like this one)...then get a judge who agrees...since there are conflicting rulings...a higher court would have to decide the case.

part 1 is now taken care of. 07-coffee3

Voter ID is perfectly reasonable and should be the norm. I don't see a problem with same-day registration though.

I think it's extremely offensive to cast generalizations about minorities by saying that they are unable to obtain photo identification. I think any person of any color who wants to vote is more than capable of obtaining photo ID. This is just another example of liberals subtle, passive racism.

Voter ID only disenfranchises minority voters, but not poor, white voters?

If poor white voters aren't also "victims" of voter ID requirements, then it's not about socioeconomic conditions... minorities simply are inferior and can't complete simple tasks...? Is that what the liberals are saying?

I think so long as you have a proper state ID and proof you live in that district (utility bill) and your vote is provisional then that can work.

Exactly. Do Liberals think that "po black folk" are too ignorant or lazy to get an ID? Is this the way they see them? I say the ones that want to vote are perfectly capable and willing to get an ID to vote.

I don't have a problem with someone casting a provisional ballot...say they just moved to a particular area....but...I oppose same day registration. The damn elections are well publicized. It is YOUR responsibility to register during the deadline. I'm sick of coddling people because they are lazy, forgetful, or ignorant. Our whole society has become a bunch of fat, coddled babies. It is sickening.

It's very difficult to argue that it doesn't, or shouldn't, pass any constitutional test.

I'm concerned with the reduced early voting days.

Why? Vote with absentee ballot and mail it in a week or weeks prior to the election.
