Geez, I purchased season tickets and now the Wyoming game has been moved to Friday rather than Saturday and the November schedule has home games I won't be able to attend during the weeknights, my wife can't come at 7:30 on a Friday night. Why not just eliminate buying tickets since all they do is move the games to fit whatever TV wants? I wasted my money this year.

The Freep EDUCATION reporter (and they are generally clueless about sports) writes about the report calling for a new lower league, maybe without football. These faculty senate reports are probably a dime a dozen.

The MAC/network television PROMOTES EMU to FOUR nationally televised games this year.

Getting back to season ticket purchases, hasn't it been known for some time that EMU would host some mid-week games?

Folks who live a long distance from a (MAC) college campus should be careful about buying season ticket because of these mid-week games if the trip is a problem.

My wife's mom lived in Wyoming for several years and I had planned on turning that into an outing to invite up her family to see a game at EMU and to see more of where I was born and raised. EMU lost a few tickets sold that night from us because of this.

Think of the NCAA basketball tourney. Games starting at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time during the week (Thursday night)... ESPN has a 24 hours of hoops in early November which has games starting like 5:00 a.m.

That said, I have to believe that Friday night is a big win for EMU. Saturdays, as everyone knows, is so CLUTTERED with college football from noon to midnight.

EMU's best chance to get noticed, at least by a few, is a Friday night or those mid-week games in November.

Bad for some fans? Look for any couple or single person who works full time and doesn't live close to Ypsi and has to travel from within Michigan to go to games EMU has been anything but fan friendly. And by the way Steve they don't announce the schedule until after you put the deposit down early on the season tickets. You try to support the team and want to go to games only to have the powers that be tell you as a fan that you don't matter. The entire NCAA gripe about attendance at sporting events but their love for TV money basically results in a non friendly fan schedule. You think MSU wants their home games to start at 9pm on weeknights? This year we were treated to 12 noon start times for EMU home men's teams. The result was that I went to 2 home games this year versus 8 the previous year when games started at 2pm.

So because of the schedule my wife and I get to go to maybe 2 home games this year to support our team versus 4 home games last year. That's too bad because we enjoy going to the games together and supporting the team.

Yeah I know. I'm speaking from a selfish standpoint. My wife and I might end up making that a three day weekend and just come up the Thursday night before.

I would be pissed too if this messed up my plans as well. But in all fairness it happens at all schools. TV scheduling holds all the cards.

I would like to buy season tickets, but with living over an hour away I prefer to just pick and choose single games to attend.

I bought mine already.

MAC TV deal produces nice dollars and nice EXPOSURE (like EMU could have 3 or 4 nationally televised games. Sweet) but it does hurt the ticket buying customer.

That said, one needs to consider what is best for the PROGRAM since it is the program which we are really concerned.

After all, those who can't make a week night game can still watch on television, so it isn't like they are being deprived of seeing the game.

If I lived in the area, I'd love to attend a Friday night game in September. Sweet.

MAC teams should have three tiers of ticket packages: for example

1 - Individual Games - 25$/game
2 - Weekend Game (Friday / sat) - 20$/Game
3 - Season Tickets (15$ / game)

I've thought about this a lot with Buffalo. I like the Idea of UB creating a package of 2-3 games when the Bills are not playing at home and marketing it to Bills fans.

Now season tickets are for reserved seating to bad there's no handicapped seats in the reserved section. They have finally put in handicapped seating in sections 112 and 113 but the put up against the regular seats so that people will walk in front of you and kick your feet as they walk by. Why not move them up against the rails so that people walk behind them ?

Buying mine soon. I live 5 hours from Ypsi, so I'll probably only make two or three games. I buy season tickets merely to call myself "a season ticket holder." Plus, that young alumni discount adds some incentive.

The new outdoor suites, where the chairback seating used to be, look pretty nice. On Matt Shepard's show Lyke said they are half sold-out already as well.

She isn't going to finish a 12 shift at the hospital on Friday in Grand Rapids and want to jump in a car for a 2 1/2 hour drive to the game on a Friday night.

They do this in basketball and I like to see it extended to football where weekday games cost less but you can buy a package of weekend games only. Good suggestion.

I get what you're saying Steve but I'm not sure having fans stay away from the stadium, to watch the game on television, is in the best interest of EMU. At a time when the program is under intense pressure to put fannies in the seats, having fans watch from the comfort of their home, when they're willing to purchase tickets to attend the games (like EMU79) seems like pretty poor decision. In other words, with the lowest attendance in Division I EMU can't afford not to havefans at Rynerson.
