The thing that is weird is I feel like NBCSN would be much more of a threat to ESPN than FS1 is. They have hockey. They have soccer. If they could add a bit more they could be a real threat to ESPN.

Yep. Olympics. Get a TV contract merger between the B1G and Pac 12 with another network and create an NFL style programming format and you got check mate.

FOX and NBC.

Given that Fox is going B1G, has the Pac 12, and the Big 12, the NFL, and a significant NASCAR package, could NBC go after Major League Baseball? This would help with summer programming on both NBCSN and NBC proper. Sunday Night Football may be an issue during the MLB postseason, but there are ways around that. NBC could house the entirety of the MLB postseason across its cable platform if it so chose - in fact, it could be a huge boost to MSNBC, whether it's leading up to a federal election, or an odd-numbered year with only a minimal number of state races.
