Men's golf at C-USA tournament
Brought over from the women's tennis championship thread:

Owls finish the first day in 11th place (+15/303), six shots better than Florida Atlantic (12th/+21/309). UTEP's #1 golfer birdied two of his last three holes to push the Miners one stroke ahead of us into 9th place (+14/302).

UAB leads LaTech by one stroke, 285 (-3) to 286 (-2). UAB sophomore Taylor Eyster (from the Birmingham suburb of Mountain Brook) leads individual scoring with a 64 (-8), five shots better than golfers from Marshall and ODU. LaTech's scoring golfers finished T4 (-2) and three at T10 (Even par).

Rice shot +21 (309) in today's second round and remained in 11th place, now 13 strokes behind 10th-place WKU and 11 shots ahead of 12th-place FAU.

Mitchell Meissner shot a 1-over 73 today and moved up to 23rd on the individual leaderboard. Will Voetsch shot a 78 and dropped down to T30. The other three Owls each scored 79s today.

UTEP -- just one stroke better than our Owls after the first round -- shot the best team score today (+4/292) and vaulted up to T5 (+18/594). UAB (+6/294 today) still leads, by 6 strokes over LaTech and Middle Tennessee (+3/579 to +9/585).

The top two individuals -- UAB's Taylor Eyster and Middle Tennessee's Hoyeong Kim -- each shot +1/73s today. Eyster remains six shots ahead with one round to go. MTSU's Drake Duncan had the day's best round (-3/69), which moved him up to T3, seven shots behind Eyster.

Rice finished 11th. Meissner shot even par to climb to T13 in the individual leaderboard.

UAB's Tyler Eyster also shot a final-round 72, which allowed LaTech senior from South Africa, Victor Lange, to catch him with a brilliant 65. Eyster won the individual title, however, on the first playoff hole. It was the first time the C-USA title has been decided by a playoff.

In the team tallies, UAB finished 8 strokes ahead of LaTech, heading into the match-play team title tournament for the top four teams. Impending weather forced organizers to move up tomorrow's semifinal matches (UAB vs UTSA & LaTech vs North Texas) to this afternoon.

In the finals today, LaTech came back from a 0-2 match deficit to beat UAB, 3-2, to win the C-USA team title.

We're getting better and had a strong finish to the season. But we had a bad tournament.

Here's the conference's recap of today's final day of the tournament: http://www.conferenceusa.com/sports/m-go...16aac.html

The Bulldogs came from behind in both the match-play semifinals and finals.
