Broadcasted Spring Games
Stephen F. Austin's spring game was broadcasted on ESPN3. Did any SBC Spring games get broadcasted?

Not sure why SBC schools are slow to jump on this. If NMSU broadcast their own they could have simulcast on ESPN3

We asked our athletic department and they didn't want to mainly to encourage people to show up. I wanted to, but work/family issues prevented me. The New staff also seems a little secretive about our practices and probably didn't want it streamed any way.

I just wish we had a spring game. And had spring practice in, I don't know, the spring.

We had a Spring Game. We won. That's all that matters.

As part of our continuing effort to quietly drown Idaho athletics in a bathtub somewhere, we held our spring game with virtually no publicity in front of about 400 people. Our starters beat our second string, 81-10.
I take this as a positive sign -- last year I'm not sure we had enough players to field a second string.

Conflict with goat mating season perhaps?
Track team wouldn't surrender the facility?
Wacky Backy harvest time?
Big protest the football team meeting?
Or maybe... maybe it was just too dang HOT HOT HOT?

Man.... can I buy you a shot of something. I feel for you guys.
They don't make a smiley for the humor in your post. But I'm laughing near you, not at you. Nomination for POTY or at least the week.

I'm angry on behalf of Idaho fans, but I really feel bad for Paul Petrino. Given what he's had to work with, I think he's done a helluva rebuilding job to get the program back into shape. And what does he have to show for it? A 6-29 career head coaching record and the rug about to be pulled out from under him right on the cusp of having some really good teams. I hope we win a bowl game this year so he can jump off this sinking ship without having to go back to work for his brother.

I really don't know why, 4thoption's ideas excepted. Something about recovery time between spring practice and summer workouts?

I hope Idaho wins a bowl game and begins to establish themselves as a better football program than Boise State. Idaho has a lot of tradition and history... they just need some really good seasons.

We're on the cusp of some good seasons -- if we had another couple interior D-Lineman I'd say we were already a threat to win the conference this year. As it is, I'll be very disappointed if we aren't bowling.
My fear, however, is that next week Staben announces Big Sky, which may be too late to hurt us too bad this year but will kill us for next year.
Then as I understand it we go through a 2-year FCS transition period where we're not even eligible for the playoffs. Nobody worth anything on the team now is going to stick around for that, including probably the coaches. So not only will we be an FCS team, we'll be a really bad FCS team that essentially gave itself the death penalty. And since almost all the boosters will have left in disgust and protest at that point, we likely won't dig out of the hole for decades. I'd much rather drop football than go through that.
If Staben does this he should be run out of town and the decision immediately reversed, but thanks to the ridiculous way public universities are run in this state that's virtually impossible. So I'm off to get drunk.
