Duffey vs. Rendon
Looks like the Twins have recalled Tyler from AAA and he will start tomorrow. I figured it was just a matter of time after his great run at the end of last season, but a little more interesting since he'll be in D.C. and up against Anthony.

MLB.com reports Duffy has left the game with an injured arm (deflected line drive) in the bottom of the 5th. R or L arm not specified

He was hit in his right shoulder ... reported by the Washington Post & Rotowire:

Quote:Duffey was removed from Sunday's start against the Nationals in the fifth inning after he was struck in the right shoulder by a line drive, James Wagner of the Washington Post reports.

Replay shows being struck on right (pitching) shoulder by return line drive. Did not even take any additional warm-up pitches before leaving the game. Heading in for x-rays, they said. Bummer...

Hopefully he'll be okay and it's just sore. He allowed a 1st inning HR but did fine after that. 1 ER in 4 IP. The Twins have a couple of starters struggling so Duffey has a chance to get more starts if he's okay.

Do you have a link to the replay?

Did the line drive hit him on the chest (front), arm (side) or back side of his shoulder?

Looks like it mostly hit the side to me.

RE: Duffey vs. Rendon
Don't have link.

I thought it might have deflected off his glove, but Blyleven said it hit him directly on the shoulder. Looked like in front, right over anterior deltoid. I tuned in right as he was going in to the locker room and they didn't show many replays to catch up with what happened. I was at first afraid it was a pitching arm injury (from pitching, not from being hit).

Thanks DFW for being more tech-savvy and a faster typist than me!

Thanks for the link. Impact appeared to me to be square on the arm side ... just below the top of the humerus (upper arm bone). Ouch! But hopefully it did not injure the joint itself.

Twins ran out of pitchers. Nats beat the Twins 6-5 in 16 innings. Rendon 1-7. He's not doing much at the plate this year - I don't think he has a homer??
