A "spot" on the staff doesn't mean assistant coach.

Probably should read through the other thread ... plenty of discussion regarding this quote. Unfortunately, there is some controversy and apparently a dilemma.

Deal for what? One good year of Dedric and hoping that the other Lawson kid 3 years from now will be good enough. Basically the program is being held hostage for one good year from a kid where we'll be lucky to make the NIT.

We can agree to disagree.

Either way the program being held hostage especially at the stage it is in now for basically one sure fire year of a productive year from a kid doesn't make any sense to me.

The way Tubby is recruiting it doesn't matter if Dedric is here or not for next year.

They needed to hire a guy with a plan.

In the modern era it's easier to restock and reload and win quickly if you have a plan.

I'm willing to let it play out. If we don't see improvement in year 2, then we have problems. I'm just glad we are past the Pastner era and I feel confident we'll rebound back in the next 2-3 years.

I understand that. But, it's clear that Tubby wants to see if they can get a waiver from the NCAA. Pastner was going to try the same thing.

to be fair....Tubby is a much more accomplished coach. I can deal with the idea that the next 2 years are rebuilding seasons...as long as I see some sort of progress.

Whatever our coach decides is OK with me.
