OLB Peter McIntyre from St. Johns committed to Northwestern.
He joins DE James Hudson & RB Michael Warren of Toledo Central Catholic, headed to Kentucky, as local players leaving town to play football.

Congrats to him. Did we offer? All I'd care about, that our staff made sure they knew Toledo was a strongly interested option. After that, it's about a kid and family being able to pick their best fit. "Kentucky," ok, an option but it's got my something going on radar going off. Hopefully everything is on the up and up and I wish those kids the best too.
If we lose local recruits OF INTEREST to MAC schools, then I'll worry about our recruiting effort.

If you see any kid from the area going to Kentucky, it's because of former Rocket, Vince Marrow. He also signed Bryant Koback out of Springfield.

Yes. all had Toledo offers. I read on this board on how Toledo should recruit the locals better, but the recruit must also choose Toledo.....

Well, no. Not to split hairs but the concern as you reported in your post was the recruiting, not the landing. I've always felt if too much goes into the "landing" something untoward is being done. Once the offer is made and normal recruiting efforts applied, the program and the University speak for themselves in MY opinion. If the recruit chooses somewhere else, that's fine.
I like reading that those hard working kids were recognized, offered and appreciated by THEIR local team and University, regardless their final choice of college.

What? Don't all programs send their recruits a box of cash in the mail?

We can't sign everybody, and the guys make their own decision. A lot of guys might not even play at the school they chose. Check in 2 yrs, if they are playing. Our coaching staff is doing a very god job of bring top quality players to UT.
