RE: Sports Illustrated Feature on Arkansas State Spring Game
A-State fans fretting over the status of the QB position, have forgotten that they have Freddie Knighten on steroids already on their roster.
Thayer Evans noted: "If we had anything that worked offensively, it was the jaw-dropping Echols-Luper, who is listed on Arkansas State's roster as an "athlete." The redshirt junior sat out last season after transferring from TCU. He was electrifying carrying, catching, throwing, returning and even punting the ball."
They could plug him in at QB and never miss a beat, and in addition to being bigger, faster, stronger, and more athletic than the talented Knighten, he is a lot better passer, and still has a good feel for the position. Based on what the coaches are saying, he will probably be carrying, catching, throwing,in every game and will probably be taking snaps behind center every game. Maybe a lot of snaps.
Fact is they have several "jaw-dropping" players about to take the field in 2016. A couple started out last season, and were dynamic from the get-go, but exited early, so the SBC did not see how good they are, but will be talking about them as the season goes on.

Echols-Luper has requested that he strictly play Wide Receiver for the sake of his NFL Draft stock.

Right, but in the real world his coach just flat out told us we can expect to see him at RB, AB, WR, or QB , plus he could return kicks, or even punt, and maybe all in every game.
Now that they have had a chance to work with him this spring and seen just how talented he is, they are going to spent the summer working on how to use him in every area to the best advantage of the team.
Guess if does not like what they are up too he can transfer some where else.
