A poster on the main MAC board went through and counted all incoming frosh MAC men basketball players and determined which ones played their four years of eligibility at that school.

Fascinating data:

"Looking at freshmen classes from 2003 through 2012, the MAC had 432 incoming freshmen, of which 191 of these played 4 seasons. That's 44% players who played 4 years. So 4 out of 9 freshmen stick around."

This might be one reason why a lot of coaches take JUCOs, grad eligible transfers, etc. - easier to keep a kid for two years, e.g., rather than try to keep one for FOUR (or five) years.

There is no vow of 'till graduation do us part.'

Great info. Looking at the EMU 2012 football recruiting class, looks like only 12 of the original 24 remain or graduated last year. I would guess that 50% number is about right across D1 college football.
