Has anyone else in the Sun Belt had a non-Saturday Homecoming game???

Southern is having ours on a Thursday night this year.

AState hasn't done a non-Saturday.

AState has done a September Homecoming.

IMHO non-Sat. homecomings are unthinkable and totally ridiculous.

I agree. It's a game dedicated to bringing alumni back to campus....yet, they put it during a time they most likely won't.

I'm fairly confident given the same schedule, we would have scheduled homecoming for one of the September dates.

This sounds like an idea Texas St. AD Teis would come up with.

The only little bit of saving grace, is it is the Thursday before Veteran's Day weekend. So some people will or could have a 3 day weekend after the game.

I've already set aside vacation time for it. I don't like it but I chalk it up to growing pains.

Unorthodox - yes. Unthinkable - no. If any of you think homecoming events are attended by the 'casual' alumni think again. I haven't been to my alma mater's HC in decades, and I'm probably not alone. Just like taking a much-needed family vacation - those that really want to be there will find a way...missing a day or two of work is not going to be a roadblock.

And not late September. September 17th, 3rd game of the season. Between getting a screwy conference schedule and ESPN wanting to put us on TV, we didn't have many options this year.

I hope Georgia Southern moves Homecoming to December...the weather should be cool (finally!) and it'll help attendance late in the season. Better than a Homecoming two weeks into the season ;-)

Then again, my opinion isn't that important because it's posted to a fan message board.

Our homecoming is always on Thanksgiving Day aka The Turkey Day Classic.
