RE: SBNation AAC rankings: Tulsa #9
My guess the rest of the way:

UConn 8
ECU 7
Memphis 6
Cincinnati 5
Navy 4
Temple 3
USF 2
Houston 1

With that defense no way they finish better than navy. At best they finish #3 but even that could be a stretch. Most likely they finish #4 again behind Memphis, Navy, and Houston.

Conventional wisdom probably agrees with you, I just think Tulsa will be the surprise team this year and Memphis will fall further than they expect.

I'm just glad we have Tulsa at home this season...they could be dangerous.

The defense should be quite a bit better (at least at defending the pass) our secondary and linebackers have several guys that didn't contribute at all last season (transfers or RS freshman) who look like they'll be significant additions this year. Namely Reggie Robinson at CB and Auburn transfer LB Khari Harding. We also have a JUCO or two coming in that will bolster the CB corps and the O-Line.

Charlie Strong, the Tulsa DC, thinks the new 2016 defense will be much better than last seasons D, he says it's not even close.

What would you expect him to say "Ya are defense is not going to be any better than last year".

I think Tulsa and UConn are ranked too low. I expect both teams to be very competitive this year.

Well giving up 537ypg and being ranked 125th in total D I'd say that doesn't exactly say much. You could be much better and still be ranked 90th in total D.

I'm pretty sure I saw one of our cornerbacks intercept a pass last season, then turn and hand it to the opposing wideout... right before forking over his lunch money.

They'll be better this year. And if they are, that should mean 1-2 more wins in a conference where the bottom is getting better but still just starting out, and the top may have actually regressed a small bit. (Other than maybe UH)

I think ECU should have shown up by now. Full rebuild at this point if the new staff is capable of that. My confidence in them is low.

Odd comment. I think most would disagree with you and have been highly impressed thus far with the staff Mo put together. Certainly much better looking on paper that the former staff. Full rebuild is a little strong as well. We'll see in September.

My dog at it. I just don't quite buy what Mo is selling. I'll be happy to be wrong.

Just curious, how does anyone know what traps Memphis is or isn't falling into? Are we discussing the team or the fans?

To clarify im specifically talking about the fans. Obviously there is no way to know what traps the team may fall into or what their mentality really is.

So I should not overlook the possibility of going 0-12? Okay, I'm falling into that trap, lol. I'm overlooking it.

Well then you're just being arrogant. I doubt they'll go 0-12, but it's a possibility for every team until they have that first win. Just like UH, the possibility is there although I also doubt it happens. I highly doubt there wasn't at least one ucf fan just like you last year.

And you are being stupid. We wont go 0-12. Possibly 1-11 but not 0-12. We play Semo and kansas at home
