RE: Pimping UCF to the Big XII
Imo, Memphis is a natural fit for the B12 expansion, geography and culture make it almost a no brainer, to me. That said, some of the opinions and anecdotal evidence being spouted in here are devoid of any truth.

UCF is the 3rd most popular team in Florida according to this poll in March http://www.orlandosportsdaily.com/2016/0...-florida/. According to the not entirely scientific NYT poll we have a substantial foothold on the central Florida market (19th) and in the third most populous state nonetheless. UCF is also the 2nd largest university in the country producing tens of thousands of alumni each year. http://www.ucf.edu/ucf-facts-2014-2015/ We actually did well ratings wise for the 2013 and 2014 years in football so people are watching (easily searchable).

Like I said though, if it were me running the B12, I would take UC and Memphis and be done with it. Also, don't be trolled by Mike Bianchi no UCF fan likes him and he's a gator fan that likes to trash and troll UCF whenever possible.

I certainly haven't forgotten - the memory still makes me nearly vomit. You UCF boys forget that the last time geography was heavily in your favor, but this time it is heavily in ours. You also forget that, as just shown by the Big 10 deal, basketball isn't completely irrelevant. If your football wins over Memphis matter, we should be considered a favorite over Cincinnati who we lead 20-13 all-time. Would you like to compare our records against UF, FSU, Miami and USF with how well you have done vs those schools?

I'd like to compare the number of conference championship and major bowl win trophies. That seems a bit more relevant.

UCF: 4 conference championships
Memphis: 5 conference championships

UCF: 1 major bowl win trophy
Memphis: 0 major bowl win trophies

While you can cherry-pick stats to make yourselves look better, all that matters is what the Big12 decides (and we doubt it will be expand to Florida.)

And many said the same thing back in the day for the ACC..but they expanded to Florida, twice.

Many said SEC woukd never expand to TX but they did.

Most moves were to expand their tv market (and value), hence why lowly Rutgers and Maryland.

Follow the $$$ and that's why the Southwest Conf died (all teams in TX but 1) while most P5 have all expanded into brand new major markets.

So UCF has posters on their board that pose as UCF fans yet are really fans of other schools? That stinks. Good thing we don't have that going on around here.

UCF is a growing school and a good bet by a league like the big 12. I hope we get in over them, but the Big 12 would be insane to not at least consider them.

I'm surprised to hear this. I travel a bit. And run into Tiger fans all over - LA, Dallas, Chicago, Philly, Detroit. I even ran into one on a ski lift in Boise once. Don't think I've ever run into anyone wearing UCF gear.

I have a few in-laws that went to Florida and one to FSU and they say that they went to school with A LOT of out of state students from the Northeast (especially New York). If you are 18, living in NY, and have a choice of a nearby school or sunny Florida? Yep, easy choice.

UCF, while its huge 63,000 plus student population is made up of those from FLA...over 10,000 students (larger than many University undergrad or even total student numbers) come from all 50 states and 152 different countries.

But yes...many come from states in the Northeast...but also those in the South and West as well.

UCF out-of-state student enrollment rankings:

1) New York
2) New Jersey
3) Pennsylvania
4) Georgia
5) Illinois
6) Ohio
7) Texas
8) California
9) Virginia
10) North Carolina
11) Maryland

This. You'd think if UCF was the hottest, greatest, awesomest, expandiest U out there right now - then their "board" would be too busy to troll other boards.

If UCF is such a hot ticket....

Don't think I ever suggested that...just responded how most of the recent P5 expansion invites were based on TV Markets.

Heck, no one knows where/if the Big 12 will ever expand...but just like how SEC went into Missouri and TX...and how Big Ten is now in the DC Area/Maryland and New Jersey/NYC...anything is possible.
