RE: JMU out of compliance with student fee subsidies for athletics
I can't believe people continue to complain on what JMU spends on athletics when it has been explained to them multiple times. To reduce spending would require JMU to dicountinue programs. Are you naysayers saying you want JMU to cut football? Is FCS so bad that you would prefer to have nothing at all? It is a serious question. Is that what you are saying?

JMU can't cut sports due to title IX because they would be cutting female sports. JMU does not receive enough funding from its donor base to reduce student fees. Tuition at JMU is a bargain. The reason students don't complain is because their cost of attendance is still very competitive with other schools and seen as a good value. The reason why fees are so high is Carrier wanted the ability to determined where he would spend the money received. If he raised tuition instead of student fees, his flexibility to allocate funds from that bucket was greatly reduced. This has all been explained on these and previous boards many times. Dukeman knows it too but he loves to watch you guys get all up in arms about it and you never disappoint him.
