We lost my mother last Thursday to Dementia, a terrible disease that robbed her of her last years and kept many grand children and great grand children from getting to know a truly wonderful lady.
Mom was always a big Tiger fan. She would turn the volume down on the TV and we would watch the games while listening to Big Jack on the radio. I also remember many late nights watching WKNO replays. I just wanted to put two pics up. One is her last hoodie, my sister-in-law monogrammed it.
I had a question about the second one. Mom and Dad had driven to Louisville for the game (probably '86/87ish), but I noticed the sign Mom had in the back window that says "Honk if you hate Dick Vitale", mom was a little ahead of the curve...I thought everyone still loved DickieV back then. My question is, what had he done or said that had her mad enough to put the sign in the back window?
Thinking about the greatest mom ever, and missing her. RIP Mary Anne and Go Tigers.

Dementia sucks... I lost my Grandfather to it last year, and my Grandmother isn't far behind. I'm sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry for your loss UPStiger. My mom has it and it's the hardest thing I have ever had to watch.

My deepest condolences. I'll say a prayer for you and your family.

My grandmother passed away a few year back from Alzheimers. She pretty much raised my while my mom and dad worked. To this day she is still one of the most wonderful women I've even known.

It really was sad to watch this woman I adored whither away mentally before my eyes.

Alzheimer's disease has claimed one of my grandfathers as well as 2 aunts and 2 uncles. It and other forms of dementia are very cruel.

Dementia took my mother, too, and my children did not have her as long as they should have.

Looks like your mom was a super fan!

Condolences on your loss.
I have a sister that has FTD, a form of dementia that affects younger people.
It is very fast moving and debilitating.
She is 53; she lives with me and I am will most likely have to put her in a nursing home soon.
Dementia is a terrible diaease.

Sorry for your loss. We took care of my 84 year old grandfather who had altzheimers. Wouldn't wish it on my worse enemy.

So sorry for your loss. I lost my grandfather to it back in the day when it wasn't mentioned much. I was a kid and I just knew he wasn't the same. Thoughts with you!
