UTEP signs 7' 1" Roman Silva
He had good numbers in high school but he played at the 3A level. I am not overly impressed but he appears to be a back up plan in case Matt Willms foot injury doesn't heel as anticipated.

In addition Kris Clyburn is in El Paso this weekend on a visit. He played one year of junior college basketball for former UTEP coach Billy Gillispie. Right now he has offers from SMU, Houston and Boise St. He had some crazy good numbers: 59% shooting, 50.8% from 3 point and 77% from the free throw line. He would offset the loss of Lee Moore IMO.

Dude, he is 7'1'' and averaged a double double his SR season of HS.

Woke up from a nap and read headline that as 7'1" Roman Slave. I was like wtf, cool. Conjured up all sorts of gladiator images, Philistine biblical references. So disappointed when I rubbed my eyes and re-read it.

He wasn't a true center though. I'd say he was more of a Power Forward. I was thinking more along the lines of Greg Foster or Van Dyke
