RE: Sentinel Countdown - 2016
All of the G5 conferences are now represented in the countdown except for the Mountain West, but they can't be expected to hold out much longer. In fact, along with Eastern Michigan, Wyoming is one of the two teams I expect to be up next.

EMU might drop to DII football before the list gets to them... and yes, i understand how soon they'll be up on the list

Hmm. Here's a small surprise. The AAC strikes again and now has two teams in the bottom ten as SMU enters the countdown at 122.

SMU will be much improved this year. Especially if their defense can improve from non existent. I'll be very surprised if SMU wins less than 4 games, which is certainly better than #122 in the nation

And now all the G-5 are represented as Hawaii brings the Mountain West into the fray at 121.

I've noticed, over the years, that the OS countdown has very little creativity and the rankings tend to resemble last years final rankings. Expect the order in this countdown to be similar to the end of year rankings

If that were true, wouldn't ucf have been #128?

RE: Sentinel Countdown - 2016
A lot of good questions are coming to mind now.

1. Who is next to fill out the bottom ten? Several teams are in jeopardy: Texas State, UCF, Eastern Michigan, and Idaho (still FBS for now) to name a few. I’m thinking it’s (0-12) UCF.

2. Which P-5 conference will be next to join the countdown? This is a little tougher, but I like the B1G with either Purdue or Maryland.

3. Who is the next C-USA team to make the list? I did not include them as possible answers to question one, but a couple of our conference brothers (Charlotte and UTSA) are going to pop up before too much longer. I suspect next up for C-USA is Charlotte.

I am tracking the conferences and calculating projected conference standings again this year and will start sharing the forecasts as soon as all conferences have been included. The SEC will likely not hit the list for a while, but South Carolina, Kentucky, and Vanderbilt will all likely be in jeopardy as we work our way down to the 90-110 range.

THE BOTTOM TEN

119. ?????
120. Kansas
121. Hawaii
122. SMU
123. ULM
124. Miami (Ohio)
125. Army
126. Tulane
127. North Texas
128. UMASS

New Mexico State is in at 118 to kick off the second half of the bottom twenty.

http://interactive.orlandosentinel.com/c...index.html

Who will be next? I'm still liking UCF or Eastern Michigan. I am actually surprised neither of them have showed up yet.

Both the CBS Sports ranking and the Orlando Sentinel have them at 127 in their preseason rankings, so I can only surmise that the outlook is rather bleak. They have a new coach, so I believe it will be a couple of years before the "Mean" is back in the Mean Green.

My guess is that they will do better than expected, but that could mean 2-4 wins. Expectation for any of the teams in the bottom 1-20 are pretty low.
