Never seen that guy before.

Must be a former UH player.

It's like a photograph from that alternate world on Fringe where everything is red-tinged.

I'll worry if he's doing that while not getting a salary from them. Hopefully he will follow Herman to bigger and better places after this season.

I doubt that will happen unless it is as head coach.

Wouldn't that be sweet some day. Let him cut his teeth across town. When he and Rice are ready, I'd welcome him back in a heartbeat.

I wonder if he can recruit a team full of players just like him?

Why is that? If someone here were to offer him a better position (e.g. position coach or coordinator) why do you think he wouldn't come here?

Great looking family! Seeing James wearing Cougar Red reminds me of Mike Pede's situation when he was an assistant AD here at Rice. Being a UH grad and a fanatic fan, I knew Mike's heart was always with the Cougars. Still, you never saw that while he was at Rice. He was one of our most loyal and vocal supporters during those years. Once he left (or was invited to leave as part of the Todd Graham department purging), he migrated back to UH, and I believe is now the head of their Alumni Association.

Deep down I know James still bleeds Owl Blue. I see nothing wrong with being a loyal supporter of your current employer - although I too feel we have entered the Bizarro world. BTW, I actually have a copy of the original Bizarro World Superman comic book. I bought it as a kid and never threw it away. I keep it with my Jackie Robinson baseball cards and 1958 Rice Cotton Bowl pennant.

Not to worry, James bleeds blue and gray all the way. Like everything he has ever done, he's putting his head down and working his butt off for the person who gave him this opportunity, and at the moment that entails being rah-rah UH. Wherever Herman goes (hopefully shortly), James will be working his tail off there as well. I would think his dream scenario follows the arc of Kingsbury up at Tech, where he comes back to his alma mater and achieves success. At the moment, I told James that it makes me feel better to think that his family his being held hostage and he's being forced to make these propaganda shots...

It's too bad we've only seen still photos. I'd like to think that video would show him blinking "Rice Fight Never Dies" in Morse code...

Which would be intercepted by evil forces only just in time to truncate the last character of the message. Thus originated the new imperative form, or so goes the legend.
