Is this the only Monarch baseball game to be televised on ASN this year ? Any excuse to miss ODU's terrible radio coverage.
It would be nice if the play by play guy actually learned the rules of the sports he covers after all these years. I still think Bazemore's 3 pointer at the buzzer against the Spiders in Richmond won the game for ODU. Thank God Bowdler was there and actually knew that it only tied the game. The little Circus Clown didn't even know the correct score in the final seconds.
This is only one example of his ineptitude. Too bad Vegas doesn't list an over/under on the amount of errors he makes each broadcast -you would get rich betting the over. Where are you John Castleberry ? !

My job requires a lot of local road travel and thus ,I miss a lot of tv broadcasts and am reliant on the radio play by play. It is very frustrating listening to him. It would be nice if he could tell us if a made shot is a 2 or 3 pointer, the score once in a while ,and when a key player is in serious foul trouble. Most of the time he has no idea who the foul is against. I have been listening to ODU sports since the days of Sonny Allen and he is easily the worst monarch broadcaster of all time. He seems like a nice cheerful guy but he is in way over his head.

Mercurio is the root of the fiasco in the first place. How dare Castleberry start a competing sports talk show on another station.Tony couldn't stand the heat and had WGH not renew Castleberry's contract. So we have Mercurrio to thank for a lousy broadcast and supposedly , a poor Lady Monarch basketball coach. Ironically,now Big Tony bashes the current broadcaster and has nothing but praise for Castleberry on his current toy radio station. What a man of character. Yeah,I know. This is ancient history

Castleberry was SO BORRRING... I say again, how you can have 30 sec of dead air in the middle of an ongoing game...on radio, I have no idea.

Based on the facility, they can drop the signal...especially if they're using a standard phone line. Is it acceptable for a respectable broadcast? no..but it does happen on a lot of college radio broadcasts (mostly with visiting team broadcasts).

trust me, dropping phones/ISDN lines happens to home and visitor broadcasts at our arena and almost all others
we have dropped a few TV satellite broadcasts as well

I wasn't talking about dropping, crowd mic was always hot. I was talking about him just not talking for long spans during games. He was just boring to listen to.
