The recruiting class videos that are posted on JMU football's facebook page are top notch awesome. JMU did a great job with those.

I think this group might be almost as good as Mickey's 10 "best ever" recruiting years.

I won't be surprised if either Garrett Groulx or Michael Greene ends up on the OL by the end of their career.
MM liked speed, and you saw a lot of over the years players add weight and DBs move up to LBs, LBs to de ends, De ends to DTs or OL, and DTs to OL. I imagine you'll see some of the same with MH.

And some "skill" guys offense will move to defense (Taylor Reynolds is a prime ex)..

Preferred walk-on.

I have seen a lot of comments about walk-on, preferred walk-on and what the differences are.

Here is a brief comparison of walk-on vs preferred walk-on.

A preferred walk-on is a "recruited player" (this is important). They are invited to be on the team but not offered any money. The school cannot comment about them until they enroll. Typically this is for borderline players that the team feels may have a shot at a position or needs time to develop. A preferred walk-on is not bound to a team until they enroll. They do not sign a "NLI", they graduate and enroll and then they are on the team.

A walk-on is an athlete who is enrolled who tries out for the team and makes it on the roster. This player is "NOT at recruited player".

Why is the designation of a "recruited player" important. It has to do with NCAA rules about the player. One of the critical rules is transferring. A recruited player is in the same boat as a scholarship player when transferring between schools (IE having to sit out a year going to another D1 school). A walk-on player is not bound by this rule (they can transfer once).

Preferred walk on success story- Daniel Brown

Pure walk-on success story---Delvin Joyce.

Delvin Joyce easily the best walk on success story in JMU history, probably the A-10/Yankee/CAA history given the records he set while here.

All credit to our friend Michael, but here's our deep-dive into the recruiting class. Hope you all enjoy it, it's way better than anything we could ever pull off.

recruiting classes aren't complete at the FCS level until after spring ball and we see where the plethora of FBS transfers land

I feel like we are going to have a nice little rivalry with NDSU and maybe Youngstown. Look for Pelini to continue his success from this year. With Tressel as Pres. football will be well supported at YSU.

As far as the Hero Sports:
"....This ranking reflects high school recruits only, transfers are not considered...."

He needs to start by actually beating ndsu and sdsu if he wants to go on a dominant run. I think they have one win over ndsu since ndsu moved to the Mvfc. I'm sure bdk will correct me.

Tommy Martin just flipped to Florida State. I guess with no money available on National Signing Day we left the door wide open for this to happen. I hope our Aussie signing is the real deal. Not that we punt much but Kane was a real weapon for us the past couple of years.

Sounds like JMU is team to beat for #UVa transfer Landan Word. He's not inclined to sit out the year in FBS.

http://247sports.com/Recruitment/Landan-...tInterests

3 star on 247sports. He had offers from Arizona, Boston College, Pittsburgh, Charlotte, Connecticut, Old Dominion, and Temple.
