RE: Anyone ever been to Lubbock?
It's not that bad but it is in the middle of nowhere(4.5 hours to DFW and Albuquerque) and if the winds blowing the wrong way it does smell pretty awful. Nice scenery on campus tho.

One of my late friends, Bobby Keys, was from there. He caught the first thing smoking to get out, lol. Being the home of Waylon Jennings and Buddy Holly are about its biggest claims to fame. It is five to six hours to get anywhere of size.

I've been there for work several times. It isn't bad but it is way out there.

RE: Anyone ever been to Lubbock?
My father played at Vanderbilt under Rex Dockery and Steve Sloan. He knew them personally and considered them friends, along with Bob Patterson. When these men came back to Tennessee from Lubbock my father asked them what they thought of the place.

The consensus was if weren't into the four C's then Lubbock wasn't the place for you. When my father asked them what the four C's were they responded

Cotton
Coors
Chili
Country Music.

Way out. Small airport and on the weekends parts are just desolate.

Lubbock isn't strictly West Texas, though some refer to it as such. I LOVE West Texas.

It is not for everybody.

RE: Anyone ever been to Lubbock?
I went down there to buy a car a few years ago. Went there to play baseball once as well when I was young.
I kind of liked it there. Kind of reminds me of old and simpler times.

I went through it back in August. It was flat and in the middle of nowhere. It was not a place I think I would like living.

Strat, I like to bust your balls about the straw vote. However, since you were a friend of Bobby Keys I just can't do that anymore. BK was a legend. Rock on.

I was shown the Chancelor's House Estate.
There were cattle grazing in the front yard. Honest to goodness.

I like the four C's, and Texas culture, but would never live where hardwood trees are scarce.

My brother-in-law used to live in Amarillo which isn't far. He lives here now in a yard with more trees than there are in all of Amarillo. It took him a while but he also prefers pork bbq now.
