HEY GAST PANTHERS
Just to let you know the BOR, likely being pushed by GT and thUGA, are trying to overhaul how much institutional support a school can use towards athletics. It will most definitely be % based on whatever they think will hurt us the most. We are actually fortunate for once our athletic budget is low for once. We will not have to increase donations much to meet any BS % they try and throw out.

Wow I didn't know GT and GA were so scared of the panthers, this is a direct shot at them to hold them down before their fans age and become invested in a program making strides.

What a bunch of pansies.

Its aimed at both of us and likely a way to keep any others like KSU from moving up. But yes both are typical P5 ********. Now that Kirby is here you can get a law changed just because it might win you a college football game. He has definitely brought the f everybody else Alabama attitude.

I cant wait until he tries and treat the ATL media like Saban does his lap dogs in AL.

Maybe this will backfire and tick of enough people to generate more support for GS. Kirby is administering his punishment for GaSt boldly inviting Penn St, Nebraska and any other hated B1G school.

We can push back too. We may not have as much clout on the field as them, but we definitely have a lot of clout as an in-state institution.

Do you have a link or anything to read about what is actually being put forth here?

RE: HEY GAST PANTHERS
1. Any changes that drastically affect GS and GAST funding would have to be approved through the Georgia General Assembly and the BOR of which there are enough supporters for both schools to see any bill regarding budgeting wouldn't pass if it negatively affected ANY of the four FBS schools in the State. House Speaker is a GS Alum.

2. It's true Kirby has powers that he is flexing to try and turn GA into a more Alabama-like state athletically. We could see changes coming in the future that make it harder for teams to become FBS like KSU, but aside from straining our G5 budget a little more, I doubt it affects us as much as fans are worried.

3. If the BOR was really against major growth for Georgia State, they wouldn't have approved the Turner Field project or the Georgia Perimeter merger. The BOR wants to see all the FBS schools in the state continue to grow because it's good for the state and their wallets in the long run.

4. Same goes for Georgia Southern. If they didn't want to see GS athletics continue to grow, they wouldn't have given us a president that recognizes athletics place in the growth of a university. If they were threatened by Georgia Southern on the field, they would have given us that other presidential candidate that was against the athletic department getting funding at all. -shudders-

TL;DR This is just rumor and nervous speculation. I think changes are coming but not as severe as some may think especially not for the state's four most important institutions. I think in the end, Georgia will become much like Tennessee who has UT and Vandy at the helm and strong Memphis and MTSU right behind. Only question is who gets to be the Memphis? GS or GAST? 05-mafia

The Lt. Governor who will most likely be the next Governor is a GS alum as well, so that helps too.

Funny... UGA has a hard time getting enough staff to handle FOI... but can drop 50k on Ludacris to perform at the spring game.

Apparently the Pres and A.D. are treating it seriously. Maybe it's just a proposal and won't ever pass, but don't think that the UGA and GT boys won't quit trying to keep us in our place. Can't wait to stomp a mudhole in GT this year.

In what way? I highly doubt they would entertain the posting of a guy that doesn't know how to handle a source. Seriously, the things I hear from time to time could freak you out or piss you off, but they typically never come to fruition or even become evident to most folks.

Edit: I see the guy is claiming his source was a prior President and has spoke to TK about it. With how known this poster is within Statesboro, I'm wondering why he is going out on the limb with this stuff.

RE: HEY GAST PANTHERS
I think what this shows, even if it doesn't pass, that we all have the bigger schools with their "foots on our throats", and almost anytime they want to put road blocks in front of our programs, or in the case of the Alabama Bot, destroy an entire program, UAB, they can. I hate UNC for this specific reason, they control the state bot, and anytime, they want to stop cold any attempt by App to improve their academic or athletic programs, all they have to do is place a few phone calls. I read this crap, and even though I have no love for GS, or GSU, it pisses me off, that their even talking about implementing such measures, hope something like this doesn't pass, you guys don't deserve to be punished just because your improving your universities and UGA and GT are starting to look at you guys at a threat.

Oooo k.
You seem to have some issue with the Person posting the rumor. Maybe he doesn't see it as going out on a limb. He heard a rumor ask the a.d. if it was true and was told it is and it's under control.
Apparently GS is gearing up more a major campaign to meet these rumoured requirements. If true, I happy this administration is being proactive. Use this to energize a mostly apathetic alumni base.
Either way it may be a positive thing or it could cripple the program
