It will most definitely be % based on whatever they think will hurt us the most. We are actually fortunate for once our athletic budget is low for once. We will not have to increase donations much to meet any BS % they try and throw out.

Maybe one of the other A-State posters can help me out, but Im fairly certain UA pushed for a similar policy in Arkansas and it was approved. Of course, only after their athletic foundation had enough money to not worry about it.05-mafia

Really because a guy that is as close to the program as you can get to the as a fan, who is married to a person that is head of one of the colleges and has spoken to the AD about it and had it confirmed is a "wild rumor"....If he is making all that up we need to get him in treatment fast. It may not get passed but I seriously doubt with as many people that know that guy in real life would make conversations with the AD up, especially with the position his spouse holds.

2. It's true Kirby has powers that he is flexing to try and turn GA into a more Alabama-like state athletically. We could see changes coming in the future that make it harder for teams to become FBS like KSU, but aside from straining our G5 budget a little more, I doubt it affects us as much as fans are worried.

3. If the BOR was really against major growth for Georgia State, they wouldn't have approved the Turner Field project or the Georgia Perimeter merger. The BOR wants to see all the FBS schools in the state continue to grow because it's good for the state and their wallets in the long run.

4. Same goes for Georgia Southern. If they didn't want to see GS athletics continue to grow, they wouldn't have given us a president that recognizes athletics place in the growth of a university. If they were threatened by Georgia Southern on the field, they would have given us that other presidential candidate that was against the athletic department getting funding at all. -shudders-

TL;DR This is just rumor and nervous speculation. I think changes are coming but not as severe as some may think especially not for the state's four most important institutions. I think in the end, Georgia will become much like Tennessee who has UT and Vandy at the helm and strong Memphis and MTSU right behind. Only question is who gets to be the Memphis? GS or GAST? 05-mafia

Did he graduate or just briefly attend?

The sky isn't falling, chicken little. TK has already expressed his confidence that we can get through this. He mentioned the $120 plan and the Clemson plan to the poster which you are referring. If the bill is passed, we will have only 4-5 years to get in compliance and get our athletic budget where it needs to be. I believe GS will make a huge push to expand our donor base so that we are less reliant on student fees. I think the bill will really affect Georgia State and the FCS programs in the state who rely heavily on student fees to operate. If worse comes to worse and the bill comes to fruition, I believe that our fans would rally and build the necessary budget in order not to have to join the likes of Western Carolina and Samford again. We don't have to worry until then though espcially about rumors from this one guy who knows a guy who knew a guy who went to high school with a guy who married a girl whose uncle knows a guy.

I'm familiar with who is and his connection.

Not saying he is making it up, this rumor has made its rounds around to those close to the program. Until we hear something official, its just a rumor on what could happen.

I'm not a fan of bringing it out like this before President, AD and Executive Board have time to address it properly. All its doing now is creating a panic.

But if there is truth we don't want to find out after it is too far down the tracks. A lot of angry citizens bombarding the politicians could be enough that they don't want to bother with it and it never gets far.

No one has any details on this for a reason. The call for help will come when it needs to. The only thing to be done at the moment is to make a fool of yourself.

...and has three sons who are Panthers. Also the BOR Chancellor is a GSU grad and attends football and MBB games regularly geared up. Becoming less concerned by the second.

In Georgia this does not get handled by private citizens...

I did not say the sky was falling but if you think this is not a major issue if passed you are crazy. WE rely as heavily on student fees as anyone in the country as, I dont know where you think most of our funding comes from. Good Lord just providing info keep the hyperbole to yourself. If you think the BOR is not in uga and GT pocket you are an idiot as well no matter who is on it. The Gov opposed the medical school at uga and they still approved it. I have talked to BOR employees and Gwinnett College almost did not happen because uga was scared it was to close.

Also the guy is married to a head of one of our colleges and is as connected as any person not actually employed can be. Virtually everyone in a leadership position know his name and who he is. If you dont know who he is you must never post on gsufans or live under a rock.
