A perspective on who we are and where we stand
On a national level for some of our great fans who may be a tad out of touch with reality....
I've listened to all the major sports talk radio and our search and subsequent hiring of a future well known HOF coach has recorded little to no national exposure. A quick mention between talking about USC AD hire, sattelite camps, NFL draft , KOBE, Warriors, and so on. We are WAY down the line in national sports news even on the college stations. Hell I heard much more talk about GT hiring Josh.
It's just who we are folks. Let's get back to being relevant and support this hire and our school like never before. Even more than Cals time here. We can do it. But it starts with us. The little guys. Show the P5 conferences we belong. Show them we will support financially and by putting butts in the seats in all sports. And I think our administration has done a fine job with most of what they've done. Especially with this hire. They showed we will invest in our university to see it succeed at the highest level. Now, will we?

You confuse bad with delusional at times and or out of touch with reality. It's sad actually. Get out of the Memphis area and you will be surprised. Having an honest opinion of our place in college athletics would serve ourselves and the UOFM well. It would also help move the program in the direction we all hope for w entually.
Not sure why my honesty and fact based opinion threatens some of you. But it's unattractive and accomplishes nothing. Have s good day. And Go Tigers Go.

It WAS a while ago- 2014, that we were relevant.
But...
Improving the play and atmosphere from the last few seasons will be nice. Hopefully we get that.

Not in top 50 of wins but think we are top 15 program. Sometimes we lack perspective.

We are #25 in all time winning percent and the main reason we are not in the top 50 in wins is because we haven't been playing as long as most the other schools. Thanks.

It was the #3 story on ESPN online right before the press conference. Might have been #2 had Kobe not gone off last night.

Tubby to Memphis is a bigger story than whoever replaces him at Texas Tech.

I guess I was under the delusion that when you pay for something you deserve a quality service or product. That isn't what we had the past three years, is it? When are people going to figure out that it's a measure of respect and duty to do things like "vote with your feet".

Oh its newsworthy and has been covered in print. Like most stories will. My point is that it's not a topic in talk radio nationally like we would like to think. The Pastner to GT garnered 10x the talk. (Maybe cause it was so shocking. Lol). I heard a few guys talk about the name Penny and they didn't know a lot about him. Other than one guy mentioning Chris Rock amd little penny. And these people are supposed to be sports junkies and students of the game(s).
I guess I should have said our "historically relevance nationally".
It's all good. I love the Uof M and want big things to happen in the future. This hire is the start of that IMHO. Big 12 is in our sights.

That right there says we're at 25 in winning percentage.

Cover story on ESPN.com. And if you're listening to sports radio guys who don't know who Penny was, you're not really listening to sports guys. Probably pay-to-talk guys like Rainman.
