The fans at Minny would've probably felt that way too after his third season, back to back tourney appearances.

Look, we get it. His overall resume is impressive. But realize that the fact that he hasn't been to the S16 in 12 yrs, was fired from both UK and Minnesota and we are paying him $3M/yr is cause for concern for some. Just making the tournament here is not going to be good enough.

Correction, Tubby was not fired at UK. And at UMinn, there was an AD change where he wanted a different guy & it's turned into a disaster. Tubby has improved every program with which he has been associated. Just look at the record prior to his hiring versus when he coached the team. And BTW, Tubby's resume is definitely top 15. Don't know but 2-3 that can top it that are active coaches.

Yes, and especially to find out if, as some have said, we really only owe him $300K per year if we let him go. I'm hoping for great things, but it's a 5 year contract and that's a long time to some of us.

My comments are in no way a prediction of what I think he will do here. I make no prediction on that at all. He very well may not disappoint me. I am strictly commenting on the hire. I will be as happy as anyone if he gets us to the sweet 16.

Never having a program get in trouble is a plus for me. I love that aspect of this hire.

No problem. And you were right, we owe Tech $300K for every year that remained on Tubby's contract there. Don't know how many years that is. Plus the boosters paying the $1.25M to Josh.

First I've heard this. In fact, I heard the opposite. Are you sure of that? Is there an article somewhere with Tubby's new Memphis contract?

People really having to try hard to be a pessimist on this hire. I can understand wait-and-see. But the defeatism baffles me.

There's actually some clown in this thread who said that Tubby's defining trait is having a great first season and declining from there at each job.
