Tubby is just 1 of 3 different coaches who lost to the Blazers while heading up the program at KY. Who can name the other 2 without looking it up?? Hint--- Gene and Mike D are the ones who beat them.

billy gillespie is one right? Mike D beat him in Louisville in the highwater mark of the short Walter Sharpe/Robert Vaden era.

"But instead of Haase matching wits with Josh Pastner, it'll be Rob Ehsan vs. Tubby Smith."

Lol, wits and Josh Pastner in the same sentence. Your writer has a sense of humor.

RE: Scarbo: Tubby Smith to Memphis Spices Up the UAB-Memphis Series
UAB under Mike Anderson was 1-1 against Tubby and Kentucky. A NCAA win in 2004, and a NCAA loss in 2006 that UAB fans seem to forget about when talking about Kentucky.

However, UAB's overall record against Tubby Smith is 2-1. Gene Bartow got a win over him at Tulsa in 1991. It was Tubby's first year at Tulsa and his first year as a head coach. UAB was the fourth game of his head coaching career. UAB won by 15 in Bartow Arena. Tubby's third loss of his career was to UAB.

Another little known fact about Tubby Smith was that from 1979-1986, he was on JD Barnett's staff at VCU. It was during those years that UAB had it's heated conference rivalry with VCU. Barnett took a lot of the Blazer fan's Ire, but Tubby was seated right there beside him during those battles.
