I am sure Pearl thought he was a lock to be the next Memphis coach when it started to unravel for Josh. I wonder if he was even considered ? What about Drew ---was he considered again ? I don't understand the Tubby thing------in football we went with young guns our last two hires. There has to be some young hungry basketball coach's that we could get for 1/2 what we will pay Tubby----with a higher upside.

Pearly probably hasn't even thought about Memphis in 7 years.

For all we know, he may be who they are targeting. The thing about rumors is that anyone can start one. Also the local media has proven they have no "inside" connections.

If Pearl was really interested in the Memphis job, he wouldn't have agreed to a massive buyout at Auburn.

I would disagree with this. Almost every second tier or third tier coach (not our tiers) looks at the Memphis job with intrigue.

Timing wasn't right this time; otherwise, I think Pearl would have been strongly considered.
