Word is that Memphis officials reached out to Buzz & he didn't reciprocate. Can't start the conversation if there is no interest......
Spin. You think Parrish was blowing hot air on the radio the other day? Admin probably wasn't willing to give up control
Way I heard it was Buzz Williams reached out to us...
Memphis never made an offer to Buzz per Parrish.
Buzz's people didn't think Memphis wasn't serious about trying to make it happen.
Is that a triple Negative? I can't even decipher that ...

yep, go hire another Pastner...that's JUST what we need...we can do this all over again real soon.
I'm going out to dinner...y'all have fun with the rumors...I'm thinking the cupboard tonight
Someone in my family owns the cupboard
old family friend, Frank G, works there...he used to at Pete and Sam's (love that place too)
Frank is a good dude...

It's not about the counter. It's about the amount. 2.8mil is a TON of money and more than I'm sure they were prepared for. Money guys may be gushy after the behemoth mistake with the JP contract.
Whoever is running search is clueless anyway. Tubby's record LAST 11 years:
WTH?
Tubby Smith, last 11 seasons as a head coach
214-156 (.578) overall record [19-14 average record]
82-112 (.423) regular season conference record
10-11 conference tournament record
NCAA appearances: 6 (3-6 record)
NIT appearances: 2 (4-2 record)
Points per game average: 68.9
You do realize that MOST of those 11 years were years spent turning perennially poor programs into winners. Your attempt to spin the above info into an indictment of his performance recently is an epic failure.
If you can win at Texas Tech you can win ANYWHERE.

RE: Texas Tech countered
Tubby is an improvement on every flaw I saw in Pastner, and a possible regression in Pastner's strength. Outside both being quality dudes, he's the opposite of Pastner. Any similarities are superficial. Tubby wont appeal to the guy drawn to pyrotechnic fluff of events.
In game coaching adjustments? Improvement.
Maximizing player talent? Improvement.
Relatability with players? Improvement.
Recruiting? Possible regression. I'll give him a chance to prove it.
We will tire of the improvements he makes in our program. There will be an asymptote to our potential. In less time than it took Pitt to tire of Dixon, we will tire of Tubby, even ifhe achieves everything he's capable of, and that's fine. He's a good fit at a good time. This is a vast improvement over Pastner.
Now waiting for contract provisions to leak to temper my general acceptance and satisfaction over the program's immediate future.

I actually think this is a fair assessment. Yes, in the short term, we will all be thrilled to see a well-coached team and to, again, be competing for conference titles and getting back to the NCAAt hopefully. However, at some point, it would be nice if we could dream bigger than just simply making the NCAAt and winning a game or 2 once in a while.

Hopefully, by then we can buy him out with, presumably, an easier method than it would have taken to rid us of Pastner.
Or, maybe we'll be so good at football and academic research we're getting bigger tv shares, easing the stress on our boosters. Lol...

He has won. Just because he didn't take Minnesota to the F4, doesn't mean he's never done it. On top of the UK success, don't forget - dude carried Georgia and Tulsa to the S16.
