Matt Doherty was the AP coach of the year in 2001. It's foolish to base your opinion of a coach on one singular year of basketball, especially when said coach could not achieve with his own roster of players like Tubby-Pitino and Doherty-Guthridge.

The question you're really asking is how hard of a worker would Penny be.

The name Penny Hardaway would work anywhere in America. Kids who didn't see Penny play when he was elite are Penny fans. Penny has literally become a basketball legend from stories of his skills.
