Buffalo back to being Buffalo.
"New York State" will no longer be the emphasis on school uniforms.

Right I mean all we had were the best three years in program history going back to the 1960's..

Donations from downstate were up big..

This was not about UB's athletic department. Our law school and school of architecture had unique names and this was a program to force the whole university into one mold.

I didn't mind the "New York State" branding. It sent the message that Buffalo is a flagship. Tom Golisano talked of doing this years ago.

(But if I was a student at Albany or Binghamton or Stony Brook, I'd probably be annoyed.)

I thought the "New York" thing was a nice bump up for Buffalo PR-wise, a shame they are bailing on it. Wonder if there was some outside pressure in addition to the inner politics of it?

I really liked the New York State moniker.

Two schools and Athletics were not in sync with the rest of the school. This has been a long time coming.

It's a shame they bailed on it. This was a step in the right direction.

You'd think they would want to try to make a connection with the ginormous NYC population..

It could have helped in Rochester and Syracuse maybe, but New York City is distant. Akron is closer to Washington, D.C., than Buffalo is to New York.

The point is the (same) state affiliation.

The point was that UB is the largest more comprehensive university in the State of New York. UB gets more students from the 5 boroughs than from Western New York and more international students then the rest of SUNY combined.
