NCAA OKs three-year moratorium on bowl games
No new bowls will be certified until 2019.

Not great news for eastern CUSA fans who were hoping to have another bowl option in the Southeast, since Myrtle Beach and Charleston were pursuing certification for this season, but at the same time nothing's preventing them from getting an existing bowl to move there, I guess.

We can only hope and pray that the Arizona Bowl moves to Myrtle Beach/Charleston. It'd be nice to have a bowl game I could actually go to.

It'll never happen (until money dictates it), but it would be great to start reducing bowl games. Total of 30 maybe...7 or 8 slots per P5 conference and 4 or 5 per G5 conference, depending on the size of the conference.

AZ bowl is here to stay in Tucson. Might get the Bahamas bowl though.

The Bahamas and Hawai'i Bowls need to be relocated. End of file.

What I don't understand is why can't the R&L Carrier bowl have a tie-in with a P5 school??? No offense to the Sun-Belt...but I'd love for CUSA to keep their tie-in w/ New Orleans...we can send our champ there vs. a P5 school. I mean, New Orleans would be a great travel destination for any CUSA champ, especially if it's vs. a P5 school. If you're a P5 school, who wouldn't want an excuse to travel to NOLA?

First, the P5s do have a New Orleans bowl destination...is called the Sugar Bowl. Second, the NO Bowl is a Sun Belt bowl first; aren't they headquartered there?

I agree with your sentiment, however; CUSA needs at least two bowls (one east and west) with an annual P5 opponent

Nothing wrong with the number bowls. That's like complaining about having too much ice cream. Nothing better than watching college football straight for 2 weeks. Why shorten it? So we can watch hockey or NBA more? Yuck.

Just move the Bahamas Bowl to Charleston/Myrtle and all is well.

Or even Atlanta. If New Orleans can "support" having the New Orleans Bowl along with the Sugar Bowl surely Atlanta can have an early bowl game and then the Peach Bowl around New Years Day. Atlanta would be very easy to get to for USM, UAB, MTSU, WKU, and Charlotte; a tad further but still doable for ODU, Marshall, FIU, FAU and La Tech.

They need to move the Bahamas Bowl to Charleston, SC, the Hawai'i Bowl to Austin, and the Idaho Bowl anywhere other than Idaho and rename it.

I do remember that game as one of the coaches from last year's game is now our head coach but I didn't realize it was permanent with it being FCS teams involved.

Yup, MEAC and SWAC are forgoing the playoffs and instead sending their champion to the Celebration Bowl. It was a pretty good game last year.
