Going against the Blazer's usual Friday night starter today...

Ryan Ruggles (So, LHP): 7 starts, 3-2, 41.0 IP, 2.20 ERA, .162 BAA, 22 BBs, 5 HBP, 22 Ks

...slow tossing left-hander with excellent ERA and BAA stats, but has struggled with his control on occassion. And they have their three best bullpen arms rested and ready to go (unlike us).

We need Blake to continue his strong pitching and be able to go deep into the game, and we need the offense to again put 5+ runs on the board. Go Owls!

As of last night in CUSA:
Southern Miss 9-1
Rice and FAU 8-2

Weather.com predicts winds during today's game will be blowing in from left field/center (SE/SSE) at 14 miles per hour.

Hope we don't try to launch easily caught fly balls into such a breeze.

Buck has not only been a D-1 ump for 21 years, he's been an MLB umpire evaluator for 11, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Maybe someone can show him this photo and ask how he would evaluate the umpire that called it a strike.

Back to the game...1-0 UAB in T2. Single, double, FC scored the run although the Owls should have had a DP after the leadoff single.

Still 0-1 going to 3rd. Owls have a single in each inning, but that's it.

Blake has gone 8 up, 8 down since the double inside the 3rd base bag in the first. Need to get him some runs.

Hunter is robbed of extra bases by 1B on on diving grab of line drive inside the bag. Rats!

UAB walk, HBP negated by pickoff at 2nd and K. Still 0-1.
