I found the Owlzone back before there was twitter or d1baseball or any good way to find out what was happening with Rice baseball. I was living in Austin and the local paper rarely would list a box score of any Rice event (unless it was a game against the local team).

The Owlzone and later the Parliament gave me a way to keep in touch with the team in current time. Plus there were other fans able to contribute and round out the view of what was happening on the team and on the park.

Most of my posts were from those days when it was easy to post 50 times on a game thread calling play-by-play.

Recently I’ve had the chance to see more (midweek) games in person due to taking some work in Houston, and have been posting less. Now I don’t need the Parliament to find out what is happening inning by inning. Twitter feeds from Rice baseball are great. There’s always JP’s unique play-by-play if there is a computer at hand. There's BA and d1 and Sorenson for good discussion.

Nowadays I go to the Parliament for (hopefully interesting) Rice discussion. And, hopefully we will get back to Rice-type discussion and stay there. It’s been embarrassing to read the attacks that have characterized the Parliament of late. I wish all posters with negative agendas would “self deport” or self de-post (?).
