I think that's the point of sports message boards. Do I have to like Memphis to post here? Is that a requirement? I'm stating my right to freely post. I felt that there was some condescension in some of the comments stated so I offered a rebuttal. I didn't know I had to ask for permission to express my thoughts.
Memphis is the Murder Capital of the United States. It's a fact. I hate the town. Another fact. I make sure my .45 has a round chambered before I drive in there. Fact. I also think Kermit is too good for that job even if it was offered. Fact. If they can't handle the facts, It's not my problem.
You don't have to agree with me at all. Ever. That's cool. But I can sure as hell say it.

Memphis is not a job upgrade. It's a lateral move at best. They've only been successful at basketball because they had to cheat to do it. Their fans think that's a dang P5 job. It isn't. It's exactly why Stock didn't take the football job when he offered it. He actually said it though and laughed while doing it. Is that on topic enough?
How's that TV contract coming?
Lateral.
Hear that UAB fans? "Clean Gene" Bartow was a cheater.
Don't think that was the guy jt was talking about...

My bad. Memphis is a P5 job. I'm totally wrong. They'll get Marshall and win the NCAA next year. Coming up with 10 mill to buy him out and pay him 4 mill a year is no problem there.
The only problem is no one else knows it's a P5 job. That's their problem. I'm done if you guys are.

I believe his buyout is $15 million.
Even with Fred Smith money they probably can't afford to get that guy.
And I have a feeling that Marshall is getting a crap ton more money on the side that no one knows about.

Memphis targets Tubby Smith as next coach
Typical of their fans. They crap on Kermit who has proven to be a better coach than Pastner and believe they have a chance at one of the best coaches in the country. Delusions of grandeur...again.

Oh crap. So the rumor of him interviewing was actually true? Whoa! When the report of his interest surfaced I actually thought it made sense but SB squashed the rumor. Wild.
Can't believe they didn't make a run at Buzz or Forbes. Everywhere I'm looking is saying it's about a done deal but who knows?

The $15 million buyout is if he's fired without cause. His buyout to leave Wichita State is much smaller than that. Had Memphis hired Gregg Marshall, they would've had to have offered a similar buyout in his contract. Considering they were glad to just get rid of a guy that had a $10.6 million buyout, there were questions if they wanted to commit that kind of cash to the next guy.

Evidently TTech has countered with a million dollar raise for Tubby. Wonder if Memphis wants him bad enough to get in a bidding war with TTech.

Guess I'm a lunatic. :-) I carry legally and I've never had a problem so it's all good.
Back on topic...
I doubt Texas Tech would counter 2 to 3 times. Memphis will pay a bit but they also really seem to want him from what I'm seeing. We'll see. If it goes bust, they should go for Forbes IMO.
