I just want a real coach. So tired of relying on getting high rated recruits.

Not sold on the local kids leading us into deep runs. Nothing against them. Maybe too much 'interference'. Hard to know why.

Someone who demands respect would go a long way in fixing that.

Maybe times have changed but Finch, Robinson, and Cook took us as far as we have ever been.

A big time coach is not going to want the tail wagging the dog. He might stick with Lawson (for the three obvious reasons) but he won't be bringing in any other locals/past player as part of his staff. A lesser known or less powerful coach might. JMO.

Why would a coach come to Memphis and not recruit the local kids? That would negate one of the biggest advantages that this job offers and will surely lead to him being fired.

Finch, Robinson, Perry, Lee, Turner and Jackson (to name a few) seemed to do pretty well.

Do you really have to ask? See Calipari, if you want to know how to built a sustainable program. See Finch and Pastner, if you want to fail.

Lol...

Building Memphis with external players requires the coach have a name because Memphis will not sell itself (HARD).

Building Memphis with Local Talent and Good regional talent has been a long time successful strategy.

And 2 out of 3 of Pastners best players came from outside of Memphis.

Keenon had something to do with that, too.

You have to get the best out of Memphis. Pick and choose on the others but you have to be salesman like Cal to do it.

No one is saying all 13 schollies should be Memphis players but a team of mostly Memphis guys is not the problem.

Only Cal did it a different way.

Bartow Finch Kirk and Pastner all used a lot of locals.
