Interesting move. But I have to ask is this really considered a rivalry? Isn't this only the 12 all-time meeting in basically a century since the first meeting?

RE: Texas/ND season opener moved to Sunday night
Texas in the 1969 Cotton Bowl was the lure that caused ND to end its self imposed bowl ban since 1925.

ND also beat Earl Campbell and Texas in the 1978 Cotton Bowl to win the national championship.

That is all I got......

Great news, and more games should be moved to the Sunday of Labor Day weekend. I always hate that college football starts the Thursday before Labor Day and you start getting into football for a few days, and then Labor Day Sunday has nothing going on because the NFL hasn't started yet.

it's tough though because teams don't want to play on Sunday then have a tough game the next week with a fewer day of rest.

Our next game is Nevada, hopefully they're not very good this year.

No, nobody considers a 'classic rivalry'.
But a giant game between to giant programs for sure.

Oh I agree its a big time game between two historic giants of the sport, I just never thought anyone would have called it a rivalry.

Terry's reasons would definitely give it a reason to call it a rivalry provided it were played more frequently.

The nation will watch. One of them will lose. If you have a game between Texas and Notre Dame two of the most loved and hated programs ever it guarantees a winner for the faithful, and a loser for everyone else!

Very true. I don't know what Texas is thinking since the following Saturday they host UTEP. 02-13-banana

nope....it COULD be one....it's got the potential to be one, but I think it's just a home & home series

Kinda hard to say how good this one is going to be. It was a 35 point beat down last year when these two met. Marshall beat Purdue by 10 on Sunday last year.
