Arizona college imposes mandatory fee to fund scholarship for illegal immigrants
Quote:A private college in Arizona is charging all students a mandatory fee to fund a scholarship for illegal immigrants, a controversial move supporters say gives a hand to those who need it but anti-illegal immigration advocates call irresponsible.
Prescott College is tacking a $30 annual fee onto its $28,000 annual tuition to establish an annual scholarship for “undocumented” students, as part of a policy first proposed by students and faculty from the undergraduate and Social Justice and Human Rights Master of Arts divisions. Backers say it helps reverse what they call Arizona’s reputation as a “national example of discriminatory politics.”
“I am proud that our students take on the role of scholar activists,” said school President John Flicker, adding that the university is committed to “broaden access to higher education for a diverse group of students” and “mobilize its resources towards social justice.”

I wouldn't pay it. But, then again, who pays that much money to go to a dive that nobody has ever heard of like that?

It's only thirty bucks. The only reason it is a big deal is because it is for an underprivileged minority. If it was for white kids nobody would say a word.

Here is the schools motto...
"For the Liberal Arts, the Environment, and Social Justice"
It's really a non-story. The school is a glorified lunatic asylum.

No that is common and in Arizona white people are a minority pretty much.
Are there any scholly set aside for white people in the USA at any colleges or universities?

In classic liberal fashion they couldn't ask for donations to achieve their goal they have to require everybody to support their opinion.

Google says that they have an undergraduate enrollment of 464.
At $30 per student, they could fund one illegal rapist to attend their college every 3 or 4 years.
Hope they dont teach economics at the school.

Hilarious. Another precious creation of the academic left.
No mention of learning how to, for instance, read English, understand maths, write a cover letter and a resume, and all the other things a responsible college should prepare future adults.
However, I give him credit for using the term "activist." Because that is what they will become.
(As the US gets more fussy about American citizens showing their papers on demand, it’s funny – funny weird, not funny ha ha – that they’re getting less so fussy with foreigners. Here is an open scholarship for an illegal immigrant with nary a fear of the US government intervening...)

I think it's fantastic because in the end, schools should seek and reach out to kids with potential regardless of their immigration status.

I guess hurting American citizens in the process is of no concern to you?

The gist of the idea is admirable... private institution tacks on a little bit to each student's tuition toward a scholarship (and if a student doesn't like it, don't go there).
I just don't understand why the lucky recipient is an illegal immigrant. There are no poor natives or legal immigrants in Arizona this fund could help out? You're only eligible if you just climbed over the wall unannounced?

Yeah, it's stupid. Even dumber is these illegals get "in state" tuition even though they are from a different country. Makes no sense whatsoever when even American citizens living in different states can not get the same treatment.
